We purchased two-extra long-twin Select Comfort Mattresses at a cost of over $7,000.00. We set our "sleep comfort numbers, individually, and found that during the night our "select numbers" fluctuated between our "memory set" of 35 to 50 to 100. Thus, disturbing our sleep with the "air mattresses" readjusting themselves, after we thought "memory set" meant PERMANENT SETTINGS. We returned to Sleepy's only to be told that we, personally, had to call Customer Service at Sleepy's. We were informed that the fluctuation was due to our "body heat." Why is it called "select number" if the "AIR PUMP" makes a decision based on body heat, room temperature, etc.? This means that living in this part of the country, with four seasons, that our air mattresses will decide our comfort numbers based on the outside/inside temperatures. What will happen when we have on our a/c, which, also, fluctuates depending on house temperature? Yet, Select Comfort Advertises "Finding Your Sleep Number, Your Perfect Comfort Level." How perfect is it if we are comfortable at number 35, and "scientific atmospheric temperatures" decide it should be 100. ABSOLUTELY ABSURD !!!
Sleepy's offered to exchange our mattresses for another brand, however, informed us we would have to deal with Select Comfort about a refund on the two pumps, each at a cost of $871.15. Select Comfort refuses to refund or credit our credit card with the cost. Now, our question is, "what do we do with two pumps?" And why would anyone purchase a "Select Comfort Mattress" without a pump that is necessary to select your "sleep numbers?" Now, in hind site, could an "air mattress" be purchased and serviceable unless it is filled with air and is a part of the entire package? We are completely at a loss to understand why the pumps are non-refundable, they go with the "Select Comfort Mattresses." Why would anyone purchase an air mattress, that allows a number for comfort, without being able to "select a number." It is like buying a car without an engine to help it run, or a television without a picture tube, etc.
Sleepy's does not stand behind their consumers. They said we had to deal with their customer service and Select Comfort's customer service on our own. We now realize we should have gone to a reliable department store like Bloomingdale's or Macy's who would have handled our complaints and refunds for us without the frustration, etc..
Sleepy's is willing to exchange the Select Comfort Mattress for a non-select-number mattress, that is adaptable for our adjustable beds, however, they will not give us a refund on the two pumps, nor will Select Comfort. We feel Select Comfort and Sleepy's has lost site of ethical and moral business standards. Sleepy's gave us two weeks to be totally satisfied, and if we were not, they would exchange. Well, we have had these mattresses one week. Our original salesperson, Andy at Sleepy's, is on vacation, and the gentleman we saw, Sunday, did not help us one bit, other than tell us to call Customer Service., he was not even able to give us a phone number or extension to reach a supervisor.
We have called our credit card company and requested they NOT pay Sleepy's based on our complaint. They will be sending us forms to fill out, etc., and upon our information will make a decision. The Supervisor at Sleepy's told us this would ruin our credit, which was another bit of "misinformation," according to our credit card company.
