Centennial Wireless - Customer Care

3811 Illinois Rd Ste 212

Fort Wayne, IN 46804

On 10/26/06 I received a phone call from Centennial Wireless contacting me on my home phone asking for a co-worker of mine. I stated that the co-worker does not and has never lived at this residence. When asked how they received this phone number associated with this co-workers name she replied "it was associated with his call records". I promptly called the co-worker to ask how Centennial Wireless got my home number associated with his cell phone records(I am also a customer of Centennial Wireless). He assured me he did not give out my home number for any reason to Centennial Wireless and that he hadn't payed his Centennial Wireless bill in quite some time. My home number is a voip (voice over internet protocol) number and is private and unlisted. I contacted my phone company Packet8 to inquire if just anyone could look up my home phone number and they told me in no uncertain terms NO that my home number is not listed in 411 or any directory lookup for that matter. I called back

to Centennial Wireless at the number the representative gave me in my first call with them. After returning the call I realized it was their debt collections office. I asked to speak with a supervisor. I asked for a free months service for having been bothered by a phone call looking for a person that does not reside with me and obviously owes them some type of debt. I told the representative I was lied to in the earlier conversation with them and that they had went through this co-workers cell phone log records and starting calling numbers in an attempt to locate him. She told me "I will neither confirm nor deny that is how we got your home phone number". She also told me that a "free months worth of service is a little over the top sir" and that they had made an error in contacting me. I am concerned now as to how safe my personal information is with this company. My home phone number was given to this co-worker in case he needs to contact me it was not given to Centennial Wirel

ess with the understanding that they could call me at that number when he didn't pay his bill. I also contacted the FTC by phone emailed the FCC and Attorney General's office in Michigan. I was told by the FTC that that type of business practice is frowned upon and illegal as well. The FTC also told me in my phone conversation that if I can prove (which I can) that they got my private unlisted phone number from this co-workers cell phone records to hire an attorney and seek damages. I originally wanted only a months worth of service but will now be contacting attorneys in my area about this matter as I have emailed Centennial Wireless and have not heard back from them with an acceptable resolution.
