Blackout of Democracy Now on SCAN
|
Blackout of Democracy Now on SCAN Democracy Now has been blacked out by SCAN, the Seattle Public Access channel 77, since at least last Friday. Who is the genius behind this decision? What is the rationale? I don't pay outrageous cable rates to have some right wing dictator decide what I watch and how I watch it; e.g., Spanish subtitles on selected ABC escapist night time soap operas.
I left a voice mail message with SCAN and e-mailed a local newspaper and ABC outlet. ABC.com along with the individual shows do not accept emails unless I subscribe/become a member. My local cable provider does not offer an email address or phone number for viewer input unless I sign up for membership. It's blackmail.
Democracy Now is blacked out just days before the midterm elections. Hmmmm. I'm a living survivor of the McCarthy hearings; my family was investigated when I was in my early teens. History repeating itself in different forms is why I'm spending considerable time and energy tracking down sources. It's frightening.
