ADT is a rip off

I will start the story back in March. I am in tharmy stationed at Ft. Stewart and lived in Guyton where I built a house for 4 years. When I came back from Iraq I wanted a top of the line alarm system for my home my wife and newborn baby. So I searched around and called ADT. I told them up front I did not have a home telephone only cell phones. They said no problem they can make it where if the alarm goes off it calls my cell phone along with the police. I said great come hook it up. We set up an appt and it was installed but did not work because they couldnt get a signal. I will admit in Guyton only Verizon and Alltell works out here and I told them that before the install they once again said no problem dont worry about it. They came back a few weeks later to install an antenna which still did not get a signal. Months went by and I did not here anything from them. They have not charged my card for the install or the monthly 28.99 monitoring fee. They called me up and said ok they got a new cellular backup and this one will work no problem. They came back out installed that and said ok your good to go it is now monitoring and it will call the cops if it goes off. One month later I get a call from the main ADT office saying they did a monthly test on my system and showed it not working. They told me to hit a few buttons on the keypad and run another test but they let me know the system never worked. I'm not going to say the installer lied but maybe he was just tired of messing with the system and just said yeah its working. So I finally called and called and contacted Dave Cummings at the savannah office. He told me he was unaware of the whole situation and he would call me back in just a minute. One week went by and I finally called him back. He said it was out of his hands he turned it over to someone else and I told him I have not received a call from anyone else and I was highly upset. He told me he would call me back and he did 5 minutes later. He told me they could come get the system and not charge me a thing but then their would be holes in the wall where they installed everything. So I told him we have got to work out something where I dont have huge holes in my brand new house. He told me I could keep the system for $339.00 and just use it basically as a siren if someone would break in but it wouldnt call the cops, I would get refunded the 28.99 a month the two times they charged me for it. I said great an installer came to my house and took the cellular back up box that never worked and my wife wrote him a check for $339.00 on the 30th Sept. That check has not cleared and my wife called him 10 days ago and asked what the problem was and he said his finance lady was not there and it would be cashed in 5-7 days and this whole mess would go away. And this whole time I am receiving calls from ADT collections asking when am I going to pay this 518.00. I told them the situation and they said they were unaware of it and savannah has not let them know anything about it. I have gotten calls fromt the monitoring office saying my system is not working and I let them know the situation and they too are unaware of anything. I also to beat it all got a call from adt saying since I did not fullfill my 2yr monitoring agreement with them I owe them 400 dollars!!!! I told them they are out of there minds THE SYSTEM NEVER WORKED!!! I once again let them know the situation and they were totally unaware of it. I let her know that I was in the field Mon-Fri and I couldnt call from the field and they are closed on the weekends. She said dont worry I'll call sav and get everything straightened out just keep defending our country and have a nice day. So I come home this weekend and get another bill saying they are going to charge 81 dollars on my card on the 25th of October. I am fed up with the whole situation I've got too much on my plate with the army my family and everything else then to worry about this simple situation that got blown up. I have a credit score of 721 and never had anything go to collections but I refuse to pay it. I'm just a hard working soldier trying to be the best father and husband I can if you could please please help me out with this I would be so so grateful. Like I said I am in the field mon-fri but I am home on the weekends and my wifes number is 667-7086 if you have any further qestions. I would really appreciate any help. I agree about the sentiment that ADT is a rip-off, but my situation is different. I have been paying monthly for three years, but they can't ever fix my system to make it work. Whenever I complain, they say they are doing their part to monitor my system, but since I have never once been able to turn on my alarm, it's worthless. I have called them several times to complain, but in the end they don't seem to care about anything but keeping my monthly draw as long as possible ... they just keep playing games with me every time I call. This last time I demanded to cancel, but they couldn't because the business office was closed, and they wouldn't even leave an internal message to get someone to call me back. RIP-OFF !!!
