United Subscription Agency

United Subscription Agency

The early part of September I had a young man come to my door claiming to be a college student who was trying to earn points that not only gave him an educational trip to Spain, it also gave him the ability to go to College. He told me that my neighbor across the street was someone he went to school with, and that she had told him we would be a good candidate to help him out. He was very charming, and charismatic and before I knew it I was ordering three subscriptions from him totalling $109.00. I even recommended that he go to my sisters house who lives a few blocks away. Later, I found out that he didn't even know my neighbor from across the street.

Anyways, after reading the back of the reciept I sent a letter stating I wanted to cancel my susbscriptions. I dropped it in the mail on the third business day after the sale, and put a stop payment on my checks. A few days later I got a call from a woman named Dixie who stated that my letter was postmarked by the fourth business day after the sale and that it had to postmarked by the third business day, therefore my sale would not be cancelled. We argued for several minutes, and I finally hung up on her because she was so rude.

Four days later I got a letter from United Subscription Agency stating that because I had not given them my correct address that my magazine cancellation would not be honored, and that the number of years had been changed from (1) to (2) after my signature had been put on the receipt, therefore I would only be recieving one years subscription Needless to say, this letter had nothing to do with me or my three subscriptions, so I again called the company. Spoke with Dixie again, and after about twenty minutes, she agreed to cancel my subscription.

Now, over a month later I get a letter from Check Game Solutions, Inc. stating that I owe them $289.00 for six checks that were not honored at my bank, and that each check has a $30.00 fee attached to it. I called the Collection Agency, who referred me back to United Subscription Agency. Once again, I spoke with Dixie who informed me that even though my subscriptions had been cancelled, my debt was still owing. So now, not only do I owe an extra $180.00 according to them, I owe them $289.00 for magazines that I won't get because my subscription has been cancelled. This company is a complete scam, and now I am finding out that the owner of U.S.A. is Katherine Key, who is also the owner of the collection agency, but have heard that the collection agency doesn't even have a license to operate as a collection agency. I have no idea how to follow up with this.

Oh yes, also forgot to add that my sister sent her letter out the day after mine, and they cancelled her subscriptions no question.
