Everyone Beware of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois, Texas and New

Mexico. All are owned by Health Care Service Corporation based in

Chicago Il. This is one company that cannot be trusted. They have a

habit of paying claims and then after 6 months to 1 year, reversing

their decision and demanding the doctors and hospitals return the

money. Another scam they run is to change a coverage end date to just

before a big claim is filed so they can get out of paying the claim.

This should not be a surprise since this is the same company who's

employees were dumping unprocessed Medicare claims in the trash because

they needed to meet service quotas, which resulted in management saving

their bonuses.

Techincally this is illegal but since the state regulatory agencies are

stretched to the max, they are getting away with this. The other

options that are available to the patients and the providers is to file

a civil suit. However, the cost of a civil suit far exceeds the amount

the company is cheating the patients out of. Ultimately, the patient

looses because the doctor or hospital will try to collect the money from

the patient.

I am a victim of this ploy. I had some procedures done and the hospital

was paid for the claim. Six months later, the Blue Cross demanded that

the hospital return the money paid for the procedures. I was never

notified as to why this was done. I was never billed by the hospital

and did not know anything about this reversal until the hospital turned

the account over to a collection agency.

your name to Double Cross Blue Shield of Illinois.
