Complaint against Uhaul storage 2460 NW 36th Street, Miami, FL 33142 I rented a Uhaul storage at 2460 NW 36th Street, Miami, FL 33142 in June. When I was returning the truck I rented to the facility, I decided that I wasn't going to rent a storage unit from Uhaul. The manager offered to give me an additional free month along with the free month from the coupon, to get me to rent the storage unit. He said that I would have to pay for 2 month's storage in order to get the additional month. So after having paid for gas and the truck, I paid for 2 months of storage. My first payment should have been due in October. In August I saw rat droppings in my unit #1513. As I was going through 1 of my boxes a mouse appeared. The manager Rolando Jones wasn't there at the time and the new manager Hector was. I told him about the rodent & he was nonchalant in his response. He said if I had insurance it would cover my losses. I checked the insurance coverage and it said "Safestor covers you in case of loss or damage to your stored goods from fire, hurricane, tornado, wind, earthquake, vandalism, lightning, smoke, hail, building collapse, explosion, leaking water and burglary. Burglary coverage is limited to 50% of the coverage amount. Also, there must be visible signs of forced entry and a police report must be filed. Furthermore, there is no coverage for loss causing by or resulting from war, flood (or surface water), vermin, or climatic conditions like rust or mildew" A month later I entered my storage unit, there were more droppings and another mouse appeared out of my box. After finally talking with Jones the general manager, he said that they were going to exterminate and he would give me a free month. That meant that my payment would be due in November instead of December. In October, I called and was informed that Jones no longer worked for the company. I told Hector that Jones said he would give me a free month for my inconvenience. He said he would check on that. He called me back and said that the offer stood. He called back and said that it didn't because the the regional manager said that she had already given me a free month because of the rodent problems. I said that I was given an additional month because of an offer Rolando Jones extended, that is pay for 2 months and we get 2 months for free. He said he would check again. I didn't hear from him again, however I received threats for late notice. What seems to have happened is that Rolando Jones who no longer works at the company lied about the 2 months free and the regional managers are accusing me of lying about the offer Jones extended. They offered to clean what I left in the unit that needed cleaning, which would include everything. After talking to Victoria, Melissa and Cindy I've concluded from what they said and their tone they don't care about any inconvenience or loss or I suffer, nor about the threat to my health as a result of rodent infestations of my things. I am terrified of rodents and disgusted that these disease carriers were all through my 4 year old son's and my things. I will have to throw things out as well as go through boxes that might contain mice, ensuring that I don't take mice with me. Hopefully I don't get bitten by a mouse. I am appalled at Uhaul's insensitivity, and lack of concern. Uhaul has terrible customer service, rodents and are deceptive in their business practices.
