stamps.com // it has the widest-spread fraudulent product advertising I've seen thus far I just signed up for stamps.com on Nov 2, 2006. Its capabilities were described to me by phone that matched *exactly* what I needed to be doing right this month as part of marketing tasks. Totally thrilled on my side, but skeptical of the fact that it could do such great things. So I really grilled the phone rep about the stamps.com software's detailed capabilities and wanted to know for certain that his description was definitely going to work. He said "I'm on a recorded line so I have to be telling you the absolute truth". I am using their downloaded desktop app, as part of the 4 week trial. The specific claimed capabilities that I want such as printing a logo and postage inside of a file with marketing content -- a capability I was surprised existed, in a technical sense, and therefore grilled the rep about -- are MISSING from their software. Equally upsetting, just printing a logo next to the postage via their desktop app (as opposed to from within a file with my marketing content in it) as is CLEARLY SHOWN on their video demo and which is an option in the software app, is definitely NOT working in their software. Then there is the biling issue, where they claimed I could change from the only option for the trial, a $191 prepayment for a year, to $15.99/month. But the 'change service plan' option in their software only allows me to select one plan, which is the year prepayment. Try to print 4 postcards on 4-up card stock - you'll be told that you need 4 sheets (even though each sheet is designed for getting 4 separate postcards printed on it.) Try importing your address book from outlook 2000 --- it wants you to find a .CSV file or .ABX file from inside your computer. Trouble is, it's extremely hard to locate the outlook address book in windows (its far from being in an intuitive directory location), AND.... it wont be in the CSV since thats not the native format for the outlook address book, nor ABX format because ABX is a COREL WORDPERFECT ADDRESS BOOK FILE. I have screenshots of the failed functions they are claiming their software can do. If anyone can take on the lawsuit side of things, I am happy to provide clear evidence of the above and more.
