Playstation 2 Disc Read Error

Playstation 2 Disc Read Error

Dear Sir or Madam:

I purchased my playstation 2 game console on november 21 2003. Approximately 6 to 8 months after owning my console and well after the 90 day warranty had expired, the console stopped playing certain playstation 2 dvd games and dvd movies. The problem wasn't too bad as I could simply press reset and my games would eventually load. Dvd movies however stopped working altogether.

Recently, my playstation game console has literally stopped playing any playstation 2 format games. I keep getting the disc read error message or the please insert a playstation format game disc message.

I own over 30+ games and of those games, only about 3 to 5 are playable. I phoned sony on sunday november 26 2006 and was told by a customer service rep that I could send my unit in in exchange for a refurbished unit at a cost of $45.00 to me. Sony has known that their playstation game consoles contains a design flaw and yet they want their loyal supporters to shoulder the responsibilty of having our defective consoles repaired. As it stands now, I can either pay the $45.00 or simply go out and buy a new ps 2. Either I'm out even more money in addition to my original console purchase which I paid $199.99 not to mention the games that I can no longer enjoy playing.

Sincerely,

Michael
