Business Complained Against: Hyundai of North Jacksonville 3333 N. Main Street, Jacksonville, FL 32206 USA Phone: (904) 354-1224
Date of Purchase: 09/21/2006 Product Involved: Hyundai Tucson 2006 Before I signed the sales contract, I was told I was being given a 30-day open contract by the salesperson so I could go look for my own financing. Later, when I wanted to start the external financing procedure, I learned this was not the case and instead I had been given a 2-5 (up to this day I am still unsure of the exact # because the finance person is never exact) day open contract. I was intending to let it go at that, but when trying to register my vehicle and transfer my existing tag out of state, I encountered more difficulties. First of all, I was told by the DMV office in that state that the paperwork had not yet reached them, when I had just talked to the person who handles this at the dealership and had been informed the paperwork on that matter had been handled already. Second, on further investigation the next day, I was informed at the DMV that the paperwork had been received, but it had been sent to the wrong office. Third, the amount that had been sent to that office was a lump sum and incorrect at that. Fourth, I was going to have to pay the amount due for the title out-of-pocket if at least I wanted to start the proceedings. The DMV was going to send the monies back to the dealership for them to cut out a separate check to the Dept. of Revenue for the taxes owed and one to themselves, as well, for the registration of the vehicle. I then spoke with a person in Finance and had the delearship confirm that I was going to get a refund of the taxes overcharged on the financial contract, as well as the fees that I was having to pay for myself. I also expressed my dissatisfaction at having had to encounter so many problems for this simple deal and requested for the dealership to correct the contract. When told this was not possible, I got in contact with the GSM who offered me an option to try to satisfy me. I called back requesting this verbal offer in writing since by now I was very dubious of their words. I was told by the customer relations/assistant manager that I would get it emailed that day. Needless to say, I never got it. I decided to go into the dealership to get it myself and also request a copy of the contract they had. The GSM came out with a copy of the buyer's order/purchase agreement. Upon inspection, I noticed different numbers switched around on the form, though it still had my exact signatures on it as in the original of which I had a copy. When I pointed this out to him and requested a copy of this document, he left and did not come back for a long time. By then, I was speaking with the General Manager because the GSM had become very rude to me. I mentioned the doctored up paper to him so he requested the copy from the GSM, who produced the same original one I had denying any other existed. I was then told by the General Manager that they were not going to address me anymore, that they had plenty of lawyers, and to please not set foot in the dealership again. Besides the delays, loss of time, taxes and registration fees overcharged on the whole matter, I was also left with a vehicle I was unable to drive (due to the temporary license having expired after 30 days because the tax monies were not processed in a timely manner due to the dealership's inefficiency). Though they later refunded the additional taxes and fees, these amounts are still left to be financed on the sales contract. Their initial misrepresentation of the deal and innaccuracy in their paperwork have cost me a lot more than the vehicle was worth. This experience has left me with a bad taste in my mouth, especially after I was lied to straight in my face twice and then made to look like I was the one making things up. All I had wanted was to try to resolve the matter personally with the dealership and to give them the oppotunity to honor their words. They never did.
