Lowe's Home Improvement/ Carpet Installation

Lowe's Home Improvement/ Carpet Installation Lowe’s Home Improvement, East Colorado Springs, Colorado/Carpet Installation
We would advise consumers NEVER EVER shop at Lowe’s.
Recently we purchased carpeting from Lowe’ here in East Colorado Springs which cost us $6011.00. On the 13th and14th of November, 2006 we had it installed by two young men whom Lowe’s advertised as “professional installers”.
These “installers’’ arrived at 11.00am both days and left at 5.00pm the first day and 4.30pm the second day which is a very short time to remove and install 1452 square feet of carpeting plus move furniture.
Due to the carpet being a Mohawk Frieze we did not notice the problems until they had left.
The Problems We Found:
Every single piece of carpeting had been cut crooked and pieced together with the grain of the carpet running in many different directions.
In two of the bedrooms they had cut the carpet short and again patched it up with pieces of carpet with the grain running in opposite directions
In the living room and dining room the carpet had been cut short which resulted in three pieces of carpet running in three different directions.
Downstairs in the den we found a hole in the carpeting by the wall which had been filled with bits of carpet in-order to hide it from us.
Every wrap around stair was loose with visible bubbles.
All of the carpet is lumpy where it was not stretched properly.
The transformation rods in two bathrooms were all placed in different positions this resulting in two of the four doors cannot be closed and every single rod throughout the house is dented.
Also after the installers left we found in the lower level of our home they had black marks all over the doors, walls and trim including one door jam gouged from top to bottom on both sides were they had scrapped the furniture against them. In five and a half hours they had ruined everything that only just been painted and decorated before their arrival.
This is what we found before we became so disgusted we choose not to look for any more problems.
An interesting note to this nightmare is that on the second day almost as these “installers” who are employees of Focus on Floors of Denver, Colorado were finishing up one of them happened to mention he was a laborer on a construction site which he did not like so he turned to laying carpets.
As for customer service—there is not any! Lowe’s was contacted and yesterday (20th, November) the installation manager came to our home. After writing down a full page of the problems we were aware of she at one point stated ”this is not a bad installation” Also when I showed her were the transformation rods were placed incorrectly I was told it was because of the placement of the doors. One thing I forgot to mention when these rods are replaced in the correct positions the vinyl flooring in the bathrooms will be full of holes. This she did make note of. After she left I was left with the feeling we were in the wrong for mentioning all this.
Lowe’s, without any problems, has agreed to have all the carpeting removed and replaced. The only problem is the contractors Lowe’s use for laying carpets are very large company’s who hire immigrant unskilled workers for a dime a dozen. So now we are having to go through this again and wonder what we will be facing with the next ‘installers”. We did request that they send in professional carpet installers from a local company here in Colorado Springs but they would not agree. My sister In Ocala, Florida also has problems after purchases carpeting and having it install by Lowe’s “installers”.
Sadly, there is nothing you can do after the fact. If we would have known this we would have gone to a smaller established carpet company here in the Springs, maybe it would cost a little more but it would have been well worth it.
