yahoo mail services My concerns are with the creation of a yahoo mail account. I strongly object to the *gender* box: there are only two genders to choose from, which does not correspond to reality and shows a disregard of transgendered and queer people's affirmation of our identity. Furthermore, I object to the fact that one HAS to fill up the box in order to get an account. Tell me, how can gender be an important information for an email service provider? As a women, I wish to have a choice to refuse to reveal my gender, and to be able to express it with adequate words if I do not fit traditional gender categories. My suggestions: create a ‘other’ in addition to male and female. Or, make the gender question non-mandatory. another complaint: it appears impossible to file a complaint to Yahoo, there appears to be no such thing as a 'user's suggestions/complaints' email. So it goes with hyper-centralized large scale service providers. I actually never used yahoo, or any other large scale email provider before. My preference go for small, grassroots independant mail service providers such as planet-save, ecomail, riseup...where you can actually TALK to someone(a real person) about your concerns and suggestions, and where they dont ask you what gender you are in order, i suppose, to better target advertisement and other crap. I say, go small. And if you still like using hotmail and yahoo, because their service do have their advantages, demand that your rights be respected: decline to take a propr place in the gender-dichotomy couch, turn the couch upside down and dance on it. Your complaining about a gender box not fitting your gender, but later you say "as a women" well that my friend would fit in the female category. I may be wrong but you are probably someone who likes to find every little thing that you complain about to get some attention. Get a cat or something and quit being an idiot.
