FW: Gunn Dodge in San Antonio Hate Soldiers but love our money _____ Subject: Gunn Dodge in San Antonio Hate Soldiers but love our money ALCON:
I am sending this out to as many folks as possible to discuss my experience with the new improved Daimler-Chrysler-Dodge. By the way, dodge is the right way to describe their company....to move away, to shift away..........accurate to say the very least. If you are an active duty military stay away. Their sign says "We support our troops". It should read "Our troops support us......whether they want to or not......".
First, I have complained to Gunn Dodge in San Antonio and got the same response on all of the other complaints about our 1996 Dodge Caravan that we purchased new from a dealer in South Carolina. They laughed at my wife and told us to leave. While in the lot, we met many others with similar complaints about their experiences with Dodge in general; Gunn Dodge, in particular.
My wife has spent $23,000.00 on repairs on this van since we have owned it with about $9,000.00 in the last year alone from Gunn Dodge here in San Antonio. We have had varied problems since we purchased this van to include brakes that don't work (actually car brake design on a much heavier van which was later "fixed" in newer models but never addressed in our year model). Other problems include transmission failures, leaks, and bad shifting (two transmissions in the last year and a half). Continuing problems include a new window motor in the driver side door (5 in the last year alone. I learned to put them in so now I just purchase the part and put it in myself). Also, 5 tensioner arms and other assorted problems with the interior such as vents falling out, leaking around the windshield, and seats that don't lock into place properly.
In the last year, we have had multiple problems with our electical and air conditioning system to the extent that it has been replaced twice, serviced multiple times, and caused shorts in the dash that have killed the blower motor twice and killed the interior lights and rear tail lights.
In the last year, Gunn Dodge continues to "fix" the same problems over and over with them recurring in as little as a month later. This last trip was $1500.00 one month and then $1200.00 the next with the van coming back with lights out (which they claim is a "different" problem). Bull crap! All lies!
They know this work is all related but we NEED the van to get me to work and transport our kids and our daughters TUBA to band practice. At this point, I plan to get the van back and drive it until it fails again. Once that happens, I may take it to Dodge and set it on fire in their parking lot. Who knows? I paid around $23K for it new and have put in about another 23K in repairs in just 10 years. Lemon, lemon, lemon.
Beware of Dodge, they will take you, lie to you and rip you off.
I plan to warn everyone I can about Dodge in general, and Gunn Dodge in San Antonio specifically. I am sending this email to all military members via my medical department Outlook system as a public service and will continue to spread the word. Please help me by doing the same. I begin teaching next year and I plan to post all of my Dodge bills in the classroom to warn both parents and students about their products and the kind of service these "Americans" are providing other "Americans". Nice job Dodge. American made, American Screwed.
The good news is that my next job will be within walking distance from my house so I can live without a car until we can get enough money to get me a car (May take a few years to pay off these bills, there goes this Christmas). My wife needs one far worse to do daily things and my daughter is a Type 1 diabetic and MUST have a car in case of an emergency. That's OK. I am a soldier, I can walk for a few years. I am used to it.
American car makers please take heed, this tactic and quality will turn your most loyal supporters into ardent, lifelong, enemies.
Thanks for letting me vent. Pass this along to all you know.

I LOVE my Dodge. I had a Dodge Shadow for 10 years and I had to have less than $1,000 worth of repairs on it in the entire time I owned it. I since traded that in for a Dodge Grand Caravan SXT. I LOVE my van. I have had it for 3 years now. The only thing I have had to have fixed is the window motor on the passenger side and that is because my kids were playing with it and burned it out. When I had it fixed, I took it to the automotive place up the street from my house. I REFUSE to pay 4 times the amount of what it costs to fix my car. It might not have cost you so much money if you had done the same. Instead of placing blame on the car company, maybe you should look at yourself and your family's use of this vehicle. It is certainly possible that maybe you and your family are responsible for your 10 YEAR OLD car's faults. Also, I am disappointed in the fact that you premise your blog with the fact that they don't support the troops. Just because they don't fix your car for free EVERY TIME something goes wrong with it, doesn't mean they don't support the troops. It means that they have a business that can't account for a soldiers use of his vehicle that may or may not be a little more abusive than most. I have received excellent service from the Dodge dealerships and maybe you would like to try mine Ancira Dodge. Also, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that if you don't like one stores service...um, maybe GO TO ANOTHER ONE. If Wal-Mart has one sales associate that isn't nice to you, does that mean ALL of Wal-Mart doesn't support the troops??? You can't possibly be serious. You really need to stop and think about what your saying and think if it is completely founded. Especially when you accuse them of something as serious as "not supporting the troops". In this case, I'd say they just don't support you. But all the managers made sure they took care of themselves. They preach about taking care of their employees and they are company owned that is a bunch of B.S. because when we asked if we were going to have jobs or not all the managers assured us we would have a job.
