Esurance

Esurance I am in Philadelphia, PA
I'm writing to complain about the worst insurance experience I ever had...a few weeks ago, I went shopping for auto insurance and received 5 quotes from an internet insurance broker. I filled out the forms carefully and accurately (including an accident 4 years ago since they stated to go back 5 years) and Esurance came back as the cheapest. So, I paid the deposit and thought I was set. Later that day, I received another email from Esurance congratulating me on my good credit score and knocking another 200.00 off the bill. I was very pleased with that! (little did I know at the time) The next day, I went online to print out my new insurance cards and saw an email from Esurance stating that they were more than doubling my premium! I was very shocked when I read the email and they cited my accident as the reason since I reported it on the paperwork in the first place. I called them and was told that although the email stated that the accident was the reason, it was really because when they went over my credit history (with a fine tooth comb) they saw that I had paid a couple of things late and hadn't had a new auto loan in several years!! I thought that was a stupid and unreasonable excuse to double my premium, so I found other insurance and cancelled Esurance that day. I was told that I would be billed for 2 days coverage and mailed the difference from my deposit in about 2 weeks. I was a little annoyed at having to wait 2 weeks for my money when they obtained it by false advertising in the first place, but well, ok...I'm done with these crooks (I thought). Days later, I'm looking at my bank statement online and see a payment (over 400.00) made to Esurance AFTER the cancellation date! I get right on the phone to them and tell them to put it back...TODAY! This unauthorized debit cost me all kinds of havoc with my bank account and resulted in numerous overdraft fees! I was livid! Once again, I was told that I will be issued a refund in 2 weeks!!! WHAT?!?!?!?!!! Conveniently, there was no supervisor around that could speak to me. I called my bank to complain, but the best that they could do was to reimberse me for the overdraft fees.
I was considering going to the consumer board after my initial experience with Esurance for what I feel was false advertising at the least verses outright bait and switch. Now, they have added theft to the list! I'm going to the insurance commission and to the consumer board. This company shouldn't be allowed to exist!
