SST - Providian Problems

I was a customer with Providian for over 4 years and had an interest rate of 9.9% interest. Back in February 2006, Providian sold my account to SST without my knowledge or permission. When this took place, SST took my account and raised my interest to 29.99%. Until this date, I credit history was great - I have been complaining to SST since February to get this straight without any help and they just keep charging me extreme interest rates and late fees. I advised that I will not pay, based on my principles, until they get my account straight and advised not to call me at my work anymore. Needless to say, they keep calling and now I'm looking into opening a law suit against SST for violating the Federal Trade Commission Act. I've always told them that I will pay what I know is the correct amount, but they will not budge on my account and insist I pay the full amount they have on their computer.

Does anyone have any advise on what I can do to get them to cooperate? I'm tired of being charged thousands of dollars more than I should - and believe me, I'm being very fair on the amount that they are over charging me. Like I said, I will pay what I owe, but nothing more and expect nothing less, unless they force me to open a law suit.
