Dear Sir/Madam,

My wife and I moved in 2005. We put in online requests for forwarding of our mail from our old address to the new one on March 8, 2005. Since my wife has not changed her name after marriage, we put in requests for each of us. While I put in an individual request, my wife wrongly submitted a family request. Consequently, we started receiving mail of her other family members at our new address. We submitted a letter requesting correction on March 14, 2005. USPS did not implement this correction request and we continued to receive all the mail of my wife's brothers, parents and sisters-in-law at our new address. After more requests to the local post office at 485 Santa Clara St, Vallejo, CA 94590, and talks with their Customer Service fell on deaf ears, I finally had a talk with a Supervisor at the Post Office on May 5, 2005, who then actually made the correction some days later. Thereafter, a good part of the mail of my wife's relatives was not forwarded to our address but was delivered to the right address.

However, to this date, we continue receiving letters addressed to my wife's brothers, parents etc., at our address. Most of this mail is junk mail or advertising material, but occasionally it is not junk mail. Today morning I phoned 1-800-ASK–USPS, and was informed that this junk and other mail, which is not in my name or my wife’s name, has to be delivered to our address as advertisers have paid for it. The remedy insisted by the representative of USPS is that my wife should file one more correction request. This Customer Service representative was impatient and snappish, and not adequately understanding of the troublesome time we have had over this issue since more than a year.

The main issue for which we are seeking a remedy is that all the mail, which is meant for my wife’s brothers, parents etc., should not be delivered to our address but to their address.
