Chase Auto Finance/Repossed for what Chase Auto Finance Chase Manhattan From: Email User
First of all I'd like to say that because of a terrible divorce and getting back on my feet after being out of the work force I had a few minor credit issues. My father assisted me in getting two automobiles. The first one financed through Capital One everything was fine. I never missed a payment, each one on time. My second vehicle financed through Chase Auto started out ok, then........Incident #1 when I found out I had to pay an unexpected bill I thought there may be a chance my car payment would be late( 3 or 4 days) so I made a phone call to Chase to let them know. The customer service rep I spoke with suggested that I do a check by phone. This was in the middle of the week so I told her that I wouldn't get paid until that Friday then she said "that's ok we can set it up to be taken out on Friday". I said great and thought I had some piece of mind. a few days later I got notices in the mail saying a check of mine bounced then another, then another. A little investigating showed that Chase didn't wait until Friday for my direct deposit. Costing me $85 in total NSF charges. They did nothing about the charges. Well mistakes happen is what I chalked it up to. A few months later I had a very costly emergency which put me in the same position and Incident #2 I made a phone call again to Chase and again (a different rep) suggested the "Check by Phone" service. Nicely I thanked her but said "no thank you" because of the prior incident. She was very nice and apologized saying that it should never have happened because it's a very easy process. The other rep. may have been new and she talked me into trying it again. I didn't think it would happen again but it surely did and this time my stupidity cost me over $125. And again I was told under no circumstance would they be able refund me any of the NSF fees. So I learned a very costly lesson. Incident #3 came about when one month I had some extra money and wanted to make 2 payments to be paid ahead. On the money order I wrote in the memo what 2 months this check represented and included both stubs from each month. A month and a half later I started getting calls from Chase telling me I was late on my payments. Of course I told them that was impossible and explained what I had done. Ok, they would look into it and call me if there was a problem. It was the next collection call that I realized what they did. They processed my payment for 2 months as only 1. Ok so they just have to back off the payment and process it again the right way. NO. They can't do it, it's impossible. Call after call I finally have one collection person tell me that customer service can do it after I make the late payment. But the payment isn't late. Each person agreed with me but couldn't help me. Incident #4 happens in the middle of me trying to find a manager to help me and all of this time I keep sending payments in when I get a call saying I'm now 2 payments behind. This time the payment is lost. I know I mailed it so I called my credit union from where I got the money order and they tell me that it hasn't been cashed yet so I think "ok, this will be easy, just stop payment and re-issue another one". My credit union said I just need Chase to send a letter saying they never received the check and it was not credited to my account. I tell Chase this and they tell me this is not their policy to do this. What's the big deal? It's easy and they'll get their money. So along with bad news I received about my health I have this too to deal with. A few weeks of me going back and forth with them and the credit union I finally get the president of the credit union to allow me to draft a letter bring it in and they'll re-issue the check. Because of hospital appointments it took me 2 days to get to the bank and in the mean time another payment is due so I also get a check for that. The next day, the fat lady sang, the straw broke the camels back. Incident # 5 My son gets in the car to go to work and he gets stopped by who else but the Repo Man. We argued with him, I called the police and after an hour the guy apologizes and says this is the second issue like this so he believes me. He said he'd tell his boss that the car wasn't here. My son went to work and when he was done he didn't feel comfortable leaving it in the driveway so he parked it at my mother's house 2 blocks away. In the morning I get a frantic call from my mother "A guy is towing your car away" So embarrassing........a crowd stood around watching my car get taken away. It's not something that happens in our neighborhood. I was exhausted. Tired of all of the bull that it takes just to get through each day with these people. My options were exhausted. I made calls but nothing seemed to help. If I had the money I would have gotten an attorney but I just got laid off. I could still afford my car but not an attorney to get it back, I lost it for no damn reason.
