Consumer Consultants / processing fees to apply for govt grants

Consumer Consultants / processing fees to apply for govt grants Sometime during 5/22-5/24, my elderly mother received a telephone call from a "government agency" stating that if she would allow access to her bank account to the tune of $326, she would receive a government grant of $5000. She immediately decided this must be to make up for those who lost benefits because they were born during "the notch years" and said ok. I believe she supplied her bank routing number, account number, and a check number but told the caller she could not cash the check until 2 weeks later when there would be money in the account again. I took my mother to the bank and cancelled payment on the check number she used, but they still have her account number and routing number. I guess I will have her account number changed now that I know more about this. The number they gave her to call was 1-877-665-9999 so I called today and they said the company was "Consumer Consultants" and that the $326 was for "processing fees" to apply for a govt grant for $5000. These people are preying on the ignorance and greed of elderly people who hear "government" and will do anything after that! Is there a government agency this can be reported to, or is posting on this complaints board the best we can do? These people are criminals and should be stopped.
