Empire Today laminate flooring

Empire Today laminate flooring

Empire Today, Baltimore area Maryland.

We hired Empire Today to install laminate flooring in our dinning room, entry hall, kitchen and breakfast room. The installation started 5/20/06 and has not been completed as of yet (5/23/06) since they did not have enough materials to complete the job. Since these guys are in the flooring business you would think they know how to measure and calculate the amount of flooring needed, I thought wrong. The installation did not go any better. The installers, of course, spoke little to no English. When I pointed out problems I had they acted like they did not understand me and continued. When under-cutting the door molding for the laminate to fit under they created so much dust it coated the entire house, they should have had a shop vacuum to suction the dust as they cut. The transition from the dinning room to the kitchen is not aligned properly and gives way when you walk over it. The installers left trash and debris on the stairs, dirt and grease on the bathroom sink and destroyed a hand towel from their dirty hands. They also destroyed a new dinning room set by placing their work tools on the hutch and scratching it and somehow put a big scratch in the middle of the table. If I was not present the chairs they stacked on the table would have fallen and more than likely shattered our TV. The trim work on 2 steps was done incorrectly, you can still see the old vinyl flooring sticking out form under the trim. Then to top it all off, after the install crew left I noticed that my eye glasses were missing. I would like to assume that they might have been taken by mistake, since one of the workers had a pair he put on the counter near mine, but I already assumed that I would receive professional installation from this company. I am really considering calling the police for theft. I called Empire Today and filed a complaint. I was told to get a quote to fix the damaged furniture and to fax it to them, but I am not sure this means they will do anything about actually getting it fixed or paying to have it fixed. From the experience I have had with the company I would not recommend them to my worst enemy. I will send a complaint to the Better Business Bureau and Attorney General.
