SBC DSL 1 year contract

SBC DSL 1 year contract I have SBC DSL internet for over 9 months in my apartment and recently bought a new house. When I called SBC to move my phone line/DSL to my new place, the customer representative told me that my new address doesn’t have SBC service. That’s why I have to cancel my service. I asked the customer rep if I will be charged for early termination fee, he said NO. But 3 weeks after, I received a bill from SBC stating that I have to pay $200 for the early termination fee. I called SBC to verify and they said I have to pay the $200 because its in the contract. I told them that I tried to transfer the service in my new place and it wasn’t my fault if their service is not available. Could you help how to deal with this problem?
