Enterprise Rent-A-Car Bad Practices, Fradulent Behavior

I recently rented a car from your location at 808 S. Saint Mary's

St. in San Antonio Texas. The car was returned on 3/18/06.

We rented 2 cars total for a week

2005 silver Chevy Malibu was the car rented to me


I have several complaints about this unethical business transaction.


I was rented a car that was unsafe and unfit to be driven.

The car was having transmission problems. The gears grind from

neutral to drive. It took a considerable amount of effort to get the

car into gear.

The speedometer of the car was also inaccurate. It was off

by about 7-8 miles per hour. If it read 70mph the car was actually

going 77mph or higher. This posed several problems including my

safety and the safety of others and also legal issues such as

speeding. The speed of the car was eventually determined by

comparing the car to 2 other cars (one rented from enterprise and

one not) when returning home. We had no way of exchanging cars while

on our trip and stuck it out with the one that we had.

There was no additional damage to the car when it was

returned however the sales associate at the San Antonio office

disagrees. The sales associate went over the cars without my

presence - which if I am correct is against protocol - I have rented

cars from your company in the past. The sales associate also did not

provide me with any documentation of the rental nor a receipt. He

also charged my credit card for the rental without validation and

did not offer me an alternate payment method. He was rude, arrogant

and talked down to me. He did not take my complaints seriously and

he told me there was nothing wrong with the car. A monkey could have

figured out that something was not right. He only discounted the

rental by 10% and has attempted to charge me for damage that was not

done by my rental of the vehicle.

My past experiences with the company in Iowa have always

been good and I have been a repeat costumer along with all of my

family. I have the same rights as everyone else whether I am a

female or not and I did not appreciate being disrespected in such a

manor. My safety was compromised by the company and quality was

definitely lacking in every area of this transaction. It has been

such an injustice that I will be looking else where the next time I

need to rent a car, especially in Texas and I am moving to San

Antonio in the fall.
