Our business is in Westland, Michigan and is about Northern Leasing Company of New York.
When their sales person called to try and sell us a credit card unit, he lied about the capabilities, the service and the cost. When we finally got the unit, it was easier to find Osama Bin Laden than to get him to our business to install it. Once it was finally hooked up – by my employee, he finally showed up about 30 days later to train the people who had been coming into the office for days waiting for him to come and install the unit. Calls to the home office brought only promises. When I got my first bill, we were robbed. We tried to cancel the contract, but of course were told that it was a non-cancelable contract. After a few months, the machine broke down. It wouldn’t read cards and when it did, it didn’t tally them so at the end of the day, all our charges were gone. We had to stop taking credit and debit cards. THAT was a year and a half ago, and had we continued to honor the contract, we would still be waiting for them to come and service the unit. Our calls went completely unanswered. Like many other small businesses, we had to make a change.
Well, they continued to deduct the money from our checking account for nearly a year, even though their customer service department told us they had stopped. When I called to complain, I was reminded that it was a non-cancelable contract. Sorry, Northern Leasing, there is no such thing. You voided the contract before it started. I finally cancelled the deduction at the bank and we are now getting 20 to 25 phone calls a day from their collections department. I have written to their CEO and all their Vice-Presidents, again with no response.
Do yourself a really big favor and use someone else. We use Costco and it works wonderfully.
