West Asset Management West Asset Management is a bill collector that keeps calling my cell phone and using up my minutes. I did not get any satisfaction from the person named Jessie that I just discussed this problem with. They want to talk with a Michael or Michelle Barbour. West Asset Management's phone number is 903-891-1066 or 877-4717197. My cell phone number is 904-477-9942. I need this to be resolved immediately. My names is Deboral L. Bridgers . Please help me with this problem. Sincerely, Deborah L. This "man" (not so much) called and said he needed to talk to my son, who had a motorcycle. Well, guess what? I dont have a son! He is on the war path for West! Which is fine - what his supprise is going to be is......I dont have anything for him. And if they think that they will get anything- they are mistaken. At this point I really dont care about the credit report, as there is nothing I can do! So I guess I will drag it out for awhile then file bankruptcy From: Message Author (click here to email author) Date: Wednesday, 14-Oct-09 18:03:09 CDT Business: Reply Online Consumer: Comment On This Comment On ThisFrom: Message Author (click here to email author) Date: Thursday, 01-Oct-09 12:53:40 CDT Business: Reply Online Consumer: Comment On This Comment On ThisUnfortunately, they can't discuss anything with you until they verify who you are. They have all that information on file (and much more), but they can't say a word until you verify you are who they are looking for. It's a good and bad thing, because it protects your privacy...but it creates a lot of hostility on both parts during the process From: Message Author (click here to email author)Date: Tuesday, 30-Jun-09 20:45:09 CDT Business: Reply Online Consumer: Comment On This Comment On ThisIf he passed away, all you have to do is get a copy of the death certificate and mail it to them. Most debt collection is forgiven when someone passes. hope this helps From: Message Author (click here to email author)Date: Tuesday, 30-Jun-09 20:42:31 CDT Business: Reply Online Consumer: Comment On This Comment On ThisI am not getting calls on my cell phone, but I am getting letting regarding my x husbands bill who died over one year ago. I have sent letter after letter and they know he is dead and their was no money and no estate and I have told them this and they keep sending me bills. I even gave them the address of the cemetary and they are still harassing me, and we were divorced over 10 years. This is just wrong..Kathy From: Message Author (click here to email author)Date: Sunday, 28-Jun-09 21:30:37 CDT Business: Reply Online Consumer: Comment On This Comment On ThisFirst of all, I used to do collections and and if a person repeatedly tells you that they are not the debtor and if they request no more calls then legally you have to cease calling.....rude or not. I have dealt with West and they have been very rude, offering me very few options to resolve the account, demanding the full amount due and payable, arguing with me, threatening, etc. Collectors also hate former collectors because they cannot play games with you.......their methods are less than desirable, if not borderline illegal....it was not until I called back 4 times and got a manager that I got what I wanted........West had better watch their step........ All they say is that they have a matter to discuss with me, but that I have to give them my personal information in order for them to discuss the "matter" with me. Seriously; like any one in their right mind would give out that information. I've reported them to the FCC and FTC (we'll see if they can actuall do their job and shut this outfit down-I doubt they will). I have come up with a brillant little idea (I think). The next time they call, I'm going to finally give them some personal information - but it won't be correct! I don't know anyone by this name, my name is NOTHING like this person's name. My ex finally intercepted one of these calls (I had been unsuccessful in getting a human response at all) and two nights in a row they promised to remove me from their calling list. This second time they asked what the number was (but they called ME) and he gave it. I will remind him to give out no OTHER information to these IDIOTS and if need be I will change my number. Having read this thread I have no confidence they will ever stop calling. This is ridiculous!! And YES they ARE criminals, they ARE breaking the law and those laws DO apply to them. But it is my experience that law enforcement can't be bothered to enforce the law unless they happen to feel like it at any given moment. The calls begin at 8:30AM and don't stop till 8:30PM. One time they even called at 6:30AM! We have been told SEVERAL times they will remove our number from their data base, but the calls continue. They fill up our answering machine up with messages like, "If you are or are not Leslie Morel, please disconnect now or hang on the line for important business." My attorney told me to tell them our phone number was being represented by HIM so they were to contact HIM from now on but they told me they had no "file" on my number and could not take down his information. My husband uses this phone number for patient medical emergencies and there seems to be NOTHING we can do to get these people to stop calling even though we are NOT the people they are looking for! Their name is Morel, ours is Merrell! These people are driving us insane and seem to above the law and we can't get them to stop calling! They say I owe a $1000 hospital bill for a place and hospital I have never even neen to . I filed a rebuttal to credit reporting cagencies and it was removed because it wasn't mine. Now a year later it is back on there. Exact same bill. Same amount. I did report them to the ftc and never got a response. Now I have to go back to the cras' and have it removed again. this has to be illegal. They want me to mail them a copy of my drivers license. To prove I am not the person they are looking for. I refuse to send anyone my drivers license. I need a lawyer. This is ridiculous. In Feb '08 - a West Asset rep offered a settlement of half of the original AT&T bill. I agreed and provided my checking acct & routing number. The amount was debited from my account. THIS SNEAKY COMPANY THEN CHANGED THE ORIGINAL ACCT NUMBER, SENT IT TO A DIFFERENT WEST ASSET OFFICE AND CONTINUES TO REPORT THE REMAINING BALANCE AS A DEROGATORY ITEM ON MY CREDIT REPORT! AND, THEY WILL NOT LET ME SPEAK TO THE ORIGINAL REP OR A MANAGER!!!! I too have been receiving many calls from west asset management. They ask for parts of social security numbers and ask to verify birthdates etc on the phone without revealing who they are. There is no way I will give this kind of info out over the phone. I did talk with a person by hitting 0000 and the person was very rude. When I told him to mail me something (he said they had my address) I was told they would call back when I was more cooperative (I guess that means giving out personal information to strangers over the phone). That won't happen. Any suggestions from anyone would be helpful. Where do I report them and file a complaint? Almost immediately, I started getting automatically-dialed "War Dialing" calls on that number from West Asset Mgt, Caller ID 443-550-7975. They are fishing for "live" auto-answer Fax machine numbers, ostensibly to sell to telemarketers. There is never a person on the other end nor does calling their number ever reach a person. Such automated calling is illegal and I have reported them to the FCC but to no avail so far. I got this new home # about 2 months ago. I have no past-due debts with anyone and am confused as to why they are calling me. I call the number back but fail to ever get a live person. I left a msg to stop calling me, also filed a complaint with the donotcallregistry, they obviously have the wrong number. The auto. msg I receive leaves no info, like name of whom they are trying to reach, etc., so I just hope these calls stop. It is annoying to get these kinds of calls when you are not deserving of them! When i phoned them to ask who they were and why they were harassing me,they said they had me confused with someone in Philadelphia (i live in NY) with the same name.I know for a fact NOONE has my name anywhere in the whole world. When I asked again what kind of company they were they HUNG UP on me!!some nerve. When icalled back again immediately noone answered.I am on a no call register and i intend to report them. They harrased my wife and me for debts that we didn't even owe. The original debtor admitted to billing mistakes, and West Asset claimed we had to *prove* to them that we didn't owe the debt--which is against the law. Further, we asked them for documentation that we owed the debt, and they responded that they didn't have to give us any documentation (again, against the law). We also told them that we did not owe the debt and to stop calling us, which they refused to do, also a against the law. Furthermore, they refused to give us any information about the alleged debts, except for the amounts owed, which (after a ton of research on part) we learned was very inflated (on the order 5-7 times the amount of the original billing mistake as reported to them). They also issued threats, divuldged personal information to 3rd parties, used decpetive statements, and refused to accurately identify themselves. They've also claimed that the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act does not apply to them, nor to us. West Asset Management is a crooked organization... Best of luck trying to get them to obey the law.... From: Message Author (click here to email author)Date: Monday, 31-Mar-08 14:17:23 CDT Business: Reply Online Consumer: Comment On This |
