Re; National/Alamo car rental airmiles scam (Vanguard corporation)
Airmiles from National/Alamo car rentals are rarely applied as agreed. This is a scam, and has been going on too long. Of 8 rentals with these rouge traders in the USA and England, only twice have I received airmiles per their contract, and those I had to fight for! The last rental I made with these con-artists was April 2006 in New Hampshire. Considering the con they (Vanguard) always try, I now sign the rental agreements "payment subject to airmiles being applied" + signature. Surprisingly, my April 2006 rental miles appeared within 7 days. None application of airmiles, per contract, is fraud and deception. Anyone falling foul of Vanguard's scam via National/Alamo should always enter a dispute with their credit card company for the full rental amount. You may not always get a charge back, or even the airmiles you have paid for, but it will send a clear message to Vanguard/National/Alamo that their con with airmiles is well known, and is part of the contract. My e-mail address is contained and I am willing to enlist in any class action against Vanguard. 500 miles per rental may be small potatos, but on Vanguards scale, may amount to hundreds of thousands of dollars/pounds, which we the renters have contracted and paid for. (note, the airline partner is unlikely to care less about this scam.) Tom Bamber Houston Texas.
