Yesterday evening around 4:30 I attempted to have my car serviced at Wal-Mart. As I drove back to the service area I found a shack. Like a small guard shack. I approached and stopped but no one was there. I proceeded to find the closest parking spot. I then exited my vehicle and walked up to the door to enter the safe area of the service center. I approached three people talking as if they were on break and asked if I could get an oil change.

The young girl standing there said, “You were supposed to stop out there and I would have been there! Follow me out there and we’ll fill out the paperwork.”

I just thought to myself…No. I told the girl she could bring it up to me since I had already walked up to there where she was. My leg is in a cast. I am a disabled veteran with 6 herniated disks in my back, heart problems, plus a multitude of other stuff not to mention it was really hot outside.

Then I was informed they wouldn’t help me and I could go somewhere else.

The girl walked off and the two guys looked at each other as one spoke, “Boy, she’s being a real bitch today.”

Where is the baby sitter? (I guess she had the day off). So I go back out to my car and drive around to the front entrance where I am greeted as I go in. I ask for an electric cart and graciously was given one. I then asked for the manager of the store and was told she is hardly ever there! I was asked what was wrong and told the gentleman and his first response was that again. Then he said, “Well, they probably wouldn’t help you anyway.”

Where did the store I used to know go? So many people are in these dead-end jobs they just don’t care. I have actually returned defective merchandise to Wal-Mart and in the next day or two found the exact same item on the shelf at full price! I was given a discounted refund on one defective item only to see it on the shelf within three days.

I have been to a different Wal-Mart for service in months past but I suppose I should use them at all now. I saw a sign yesterday outside a Wal-Mart that used to read SATISFACTION GUARENTEED. Some of the letters were missing only to reveal the true slogan…

AS ISFACTION GUARENTEED which I took to say “AS IS”. I guess time does lend itself to truth!

Help! Clean-up all isles!!!

Sincerely,

Gary Phillips
