Capital One

Capital One In April I used the web page to do an ACH for my payment. The process was normal, easy to understand with the typical questions. The problem is that I guess the information I typed in was incorrect. I did not notice that the ACH did not go through until I noticed this month that the second one I asked to have done did not go through. I called my bank and they informed me that no one tried to ACH my account on the dates I asked to have it done. I then called the customer service number at Capital One, they informed me that both ACH’s did not go through because of improper information. This was amazing that he was able to give this information, because of the 6 items I received from Capital One in the mail not one mentioned that my ACH payment never went through, in fact all 6 were ads for different types of loans. Of the 12 e-mails from Capital One I received this week only one pertained to my account, and that was to say my statement is now available on line. This was totally amazing, no one could send an e-mail or a letter, but the company could send advertisements at an insane rate. When I called I asked why no one let me know that the ACH did not go through, and I was informed that Capital One does not let people know when a payment does not go through. In fact he told me the only time they would contact a customer is when the account became seriously delinquent. So that means the only time Capital One contacts someone is when they are in collections. I am so glad that Capital One cares for their customers. I am sure that one of the 21,000 employees could have taken the time to write an e-mail or send a letter telling me that the ACH did not go through. Not to mention I am sure that the cost is not that great you have already off set the cost of the stamp and wage with the $29.00 charge for Late Payment. Now I know that I should have noticed that on the statement that the payment did not go through and yes that is my fault, but I would have thought that somewhere in a company that made 12 million dollars could send something to let me know. The company I work for even does that, I send people a form letter informing them that there was a problem with their ACH. It is amazing it is a form letter it takes maybe 2 minutes to send the letter out. The cost is not that great maybe a $1 at the most. Which after the late fee still gives the gross profit of $28.00. Then there is the Good Will involved, I would tell people how great Capital One was to let me know that there was a problem. But instead I can tell them that Capital One has the “Big Hassle” credit card. So since this has occurred you have now made $58.00 and done nothing for it, what a great business, I am shocked that 2005 sales were only 12 million.
