Rex TV & Appliance I am writing to complain about Rex TV & Appliance in Ocala, Florida. On 7/17/06 I purchased what I thought was a full-sized Whirlpool washer & dryer. On 7/18/06 I set them up and the dryer was making a horrible sound. The serviceman could not come out until 7/21/06 ,and he said it was damaged. I know I didn't damage it, so it was sold to me damaged. The damage on the unit was not even detectable to my untrained eye. In the store I asked the salesman Paul Maloney what if it doesn't work when I get it home, and he said there's a 7-day return policy. So on 7/21/06, I called to tell them I wanted to exchange it for a working dryer and they refused, saying I was the one who damaged it, basically calling me a liar. I said I was told I could exchange it and the paperwork says I can exchange it, but they maintain it's my problem. I called the District Manager, Bill Branum, three times. And the only reason he finally called me, I feel, is I faxed a letter to the store on the 7th day trying to exercise my 7-day return/exchange option. 30 minutes later he called. But he was no help. They haven't even offered me quarters to go to the damn laundromat to dry my clothes. I finally called Whirlpool directly, and thank goodness they're an upstanding, customer service oriented company. They are agreeing to repair it finally. But I still maintain that I bought a new product that I expected to work and not have to wait 5 weeks before I can dry clothes. I could've gotten my old dryer fixed in probably a day and had an old dryer and less aggravation than I've had dealing with this company. Oh, and on top of it, it's not a full-sized washer and dryer. It's compact. So that was a misrepresentation. Rex TV and Appliance has no integrity as a company. I hope anyone that even sees a Rex TV will go in the other direction, no matter how good the prices are. The saying is so true, you get what you pay for!!!
