A.O.L.

A.O.L. had an account for a few years and was on automatic payment on my American Express. When I cancelled the account, after several attemps, about six months later, they billed my American Epress $252.00 cancellation fee. I called AE to dispute the charges and they investigated the charges and sent me a letter say it was not justified and they would remove the charge from by bill. Its been over a year and this evening I get a call from a collection agency for the money. I called AOL and spoke with a supervisor with no success. I have over an 800 fico score and this will damage my rating. As you can imagine, I'm not happy but do not know whatelse to do except get a lawyer involved if nessassary. I will be sending a certified letter to the collection agency to dispute the validity of these charges to use as backup if needed. This is not the first issue with AOL for me and now they are trying to pull money from my 80 year old mother. I had her change to another internet service and I am waiting to see what happens next. AOL will probably go after her estate when she is no longer with us.
I cant beleive after the last lawsuit that AOL had over disputed charges, they can continue to do business. Something need to me done about companys such as this that take (steal) money from people (whom some cant afford). I can only imagine how many people there are out there who have been billed (unwarrented) who do not look at their credit cards statements before paying them. Like company (travel) credit cards that just pay the bill without looking.
As you can tell, I'm upset beyond words. Carol From: Message Author (click here to email author)Date: Sunday, 30-Jul-06 09:00:29 CDT Business: Reply Online Consumer: Comment On This |
