Capital One Card Services.

Hello Complaints.

I had a Capital One Credit card. On October 6th 2005 I had a zero ballance so I wrote and called Capital one and closed the account. I received a letter from Capital One that my account was closed October 20, 2005. I destroyed the credit cards on October 21, 2005.

Well I got a bill from Capital One on December 12, 2005 telling I owed $57.35 on charges made by someone on 11- 22-2005, 11-31-2005, and 12-06-2005. These charges came from Nigeria. Capital one stated that they reopened my account in order to pay these charges.

Now Capital One tells me my account will be delinquent if not payed today January 6 2006.

My complaint is why can a credit card company reopen a persons account after it was closed with a zero ballance and accept fradualent charges on it? Does that mean I can look for charges on Credit cards I have payed off and closed at any time?

Please help me out here. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Roger Liska
