My experience with VSNL Tata Indicom

Hi,

I subscribed for broadband connection from VSNL and had terrible experience even while closing the account.

 

1. When I made the deposit of Rs.3700/- they promptly credited the money to their account and peacefully told me after 2 weeks that connection is not feasible in my place. As I lost time of 2 weeks with assumption that they will provide connection I fought with them and somehow got the connection.

2. Then my problems continued. At the time of installation, they said they will be at home by 10.00 AM and I decided to go late to office as no one else is there at home to attend them. I told them clearly that timings are important because I must rush to office once the job is done. They had my cell number, land line number and many more details but didnt even call and tell me that there can be delay. After 2 hours when I called, they said they are on the way. The process continued till 1 PM and they arrived at 1.30 PM. The installation etc took a couple of hours and I had to take leave on the day.

3. Whenever I had technical issues, the problems were attended only after a week. I requested the engineers to call me on my cell before coming to home as I will be in office and house will be locked. They never did that and closed the complaints with a note that house is locked. In one occassion when I was waiting for them at home, they tried the same trick and closed the case saying that the house is locked even with out visiting my house. They didnt leave any slip while doing this, and I had to know only when I make a follow-up call.

4. After getting fed up with the services I had an option to go for BSNL when they started the broadband services. I immediately used the opportunity and sent email to VSNL Customer care in May 2005 stating that I wanted to discontinue the service.

There was no response from them but I started using BSNL and discontinued VSNL. In addition I sent a mail in June asking them to explain how can I get the refund.

VSNL kept on sending bills to me and were telling me that July Bill was due. I questioned them on why did they charge when I communicated to them in May itself that I am not using their service.

They never clarified on the same but kept sending the bills even now. Apart from them they didnt clarify even today on how can I get the refund. All I was receiving from them in eMail is that they clarified to one person at my home about the issue. I asked them to send the same information in eMail which they never did.

It is interesting to see how they managed the email communication without ever putting the point in words. The issue is Open even now, and I am in touch with an advocate here in Mehdipatnam to teach these people a lesson. I also gathered a number of people who had issues with VSNL and all of us are in the process of filing a case against them.
