Company name: Rebatestatus.com
I purchased a Motorola MPx220 phone with Cingular service from Buy.com in February 2005. With the purchase were two rebates of $150 each if service was kept for at least six months. After the time period had passed, I sent my information to an address in Minnesota for the rebates to be processed. Five weeks later, I had received no notification that the information had been received, and the website had no information either. After several phone calls I reached someone at rebatestatus.com who told me that I needed to resubmit all information to an address in Niagara Falls, NY. I immediately made new copies of all forms and mailed them via certified mail on October 7. It took two weeks for rebatestatus.com to begin the process, which was supposed to take 8-10 weeks. After 12 full weeks, on 19 January 2006, the website said that the rebates had been mailed and please allow 30 days for delivery. On 31 January, 12 days after the checks were supposedly mailed, I called to find out why I could send a letter fourth-class mail to Afghanistan faster than they could mail the checks from upstate NY. The only answer I received, over and over, without fail, was that they had to allow 30 days for delivery before they could issue new checks and there was nothing else they could do about it. When asked why, if they were mailed from anywhere in the US, it would take 30 days, I was given the same answer again. Personally, I think they are holding the money for an extra few weeks and have not mailed a thing.
