"Free 3 or 4 day Adventure Cruise" / SCAM
|
"Free 3 or 4 day Adventure Cruise" / SCAM I supposedly had won a voucher for a 3 or 4 day cruise for 2 adults, I followed all of the instructions, made sure I had dotted every "i" and crossed every "t", I even had to submit $ 179.00 per person to cover any government fees and taxes. In November 2005 I received a phone call from Infinity Incentive Group advising me that if I was to travel on the dates I had requested I would have to pay a surcharge, becuase the date I had selected was during their mid-season, well I refused. I reminded them that I had won a "free cruise" and I would not pay anything else toward this trip. I even asked what dates were considered non mid-season or peak season so that I could re-select some dates and the only thing they could tell me was that the low season was during "Hurricane season". Who wants to travel when there is a hurricane in the Gulf? I was even told that this since I had mailed them a check to cover the government fees and taxes that was no longer a free crusie. I suggest that they need to be sure and inform the telemarketers who are making the phone calls trying to get people to come and listen to any type of sales pitch that even though they tell you that you will win a free trip just for a few hours of your time, they even make you decide while on the phone, which "free trip" you would like to have. I was even told that any date in March was considered a mid-season date because it was spring time in Texas and I would be departing from a port in Texas. Well, they need to learn to look at a calendar more closely, because spring is not official until April of any year, no matter what state you live in or what state you may want to travel. Then when I still refused to pay a surcharge so that I could travel on any of the dates I had selected, the customer service representative had the nerve to ask me "You would put your mother in a bunk bed?" Where I choose to sleep is none of their business, if my traveling companion and I are happy with the accomodations provided with the "free cruise" then so be it. I was not intending to spend all of my time sitting in my cabin while on a cruise (Imagine that) This is a pretty low tactic to try to get people to upgrade to a more expensive room, especially when they have no intentions of spending a lot of time there. I told them that I thought this whole "free trip" was nothing but a scam. I have mailed them a letter requesting a full refund for the government fees and taxes. Since I had not locked any travel dates I was told today that I would receive a refund check in approx 8 weeks. I guess I will find out at the end of March 2006
