LG Mobile Phones

Dear Complaint's.com

Its very apparent and from their very own admission that LG's Cellular Phones are not mobile and only intended for indoor de-humidified use. This has cost me considerably on phone replacement due to corroded contacts from salt air in a brief time.

Sincerely,

U just answered yourself some more! Its not a matter of you saying or even deciding on your own if you are making false claims or not. Its really that simple. You advertise and market this phone as a mobile phone. In my lexicon that means it can used under normal outdoor atmospheric conditions and since most of the US lives along a salt water coastline, salty air would be considered normal, ordinary and customary. Now if your rigorous testing you claim to use also determines what conditions the phone can be used under and sets forth your limitations of use than obviously its not engineered to be mobile. Why? cause your very own testing and admission limits its use in moist atmospheric conditions. Something the US Federal Trade Commission will be most interested in reading. "You market and sell mobile phones but they really aren't and we don't warranty them to be." In essence, that's what you just wrote to me in your last 2 e-mails! Makes no sense!

Regards!

Dear LG!

Then you answered this for me in now saying what you just said. If moisture is how you now describe it and your cell is called by you a Mobile of cellular and its unable to stand up to the rigors of normal use in the outdoors than you are making claims which falsely markets this item and will then bring the US gov't into the picture for making false marketing claims for your "for indoor use with very dry and used in A/C only" cell phones. I'm now unable to be without a mobile phone for more than 2 days, so returning it is out of the question. Didn't think u designed your phones to have "Bad Hair Days"!

Regards!

Moisture can be the result of many factors including living in a humid environment. Our handsets are designed to be mobile as implied. In addition, our handsets have been tested in extreme conditions which is how we have come to understand certain does and don'ts involved in mobile phone care.

Please know that LG is not making any demands or speculations regarding the condition of your handset and the causes of your handset being in its current condition, whether with or without any damage. If you would like to send your handset to LG to be assessed by a skilled service technician, you are welcome to do so as we gladly welcome the opportunity to resolve any issue regarding your handset for you. If after our technicians receive your handset, it is deemed to be defective inclusive to poor workmanship or something of like manner, then your handset will be repaired or replaced accordingly. On the other hand, if there appears to be damaged caused by something other than a manufacturer's defect, you will be notified and giving instructions on how to proceed with any repair or replacement as the repair/replacement decision will be solely up to you.

Please contact us again if we can be of further assistance. Thank you again for inquiring of LG Electronics.

Regardless of your limited expressed warranty there is an implied warranty of merchantability. Now maybe we're not talking of the same thing, but I'm talking about a mobile phone to be used outdoors, For if not, it wouldn't be considered that mobile! Now if u're telling me any moisture in the air (humidity) is moisture damage than obviously your phone was not designed and engineered for its intended use. Therefore and for the moment or until u come up with another lame excuse or perhaps a legitimate admission of non-merchantability or other resolve, I'll hold off taking recourse in the courts.

Sincerely,

Dear Stewart,

Thank you for inquiring of LG Electronics.

LG offers a one year limited warranty on our phones that begins on the date of purchase. This warranty does not cover body, cosmetic, or moisture damages to the phone. Any applicable repair charge begins at $35. Actual cost is dependent upon any found out-of-warranty damage and can not be determined until the equipment is assessed by our technicians. Please know that all of our products meet FCC requirements which are the only requirements we are obligated to meet beyond our own specified warranty.

If you would like, you can send your phone in to LG to be assessed by our repair technicians. Before sending your phone in to LG, you must first obtain an RA (return authorization) number. An RA number is used to track your phone while in our repair facility. To obtain an RA number, you will need to contact our Wireless Division at 1-800-793-8896.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any additional questions or concerns. Thank you again for contacting LG Electronics.

Subject: RE: Defective phone

Dear LG!

I currently own a Model VX4650 LG mobile phone orinally purchased from Verizon.

This is my 3rd LG phone. The 1st had simlar problems as this one. My second under insurance was lost and this one sent and I returned the lost phone when it was found.

I had been told by Verizon's local store that with phone #1 and 3 a similar problem of corrosion of the contacts. This in both instances, within 3-4 months of use.

I live in salty air 1 mile west from the ocean. I must assume your mobile phones are supposed to be manufactured to withstand normal use and outdoor conditions. I had never had a similar problem with other make phones.

Regardless, I was now forced to buy a new phone. I consider that as with anything else your phones, aside from your expressed warranty are also covered under Florida's UCC's of Implied Warranty for Merchantability. It is obvious that your mobile phone's are not that mobile and therefore must make claim against you for the approx. $80.00 it is costing me through Verizon to replace. Please advise, before I take other recourse.

Sincerely,

Stewart J. Lustgarten
