I recently moved back to NY, and desperately needed a haircut. I had my sister, who is not a professional, cut my hair when I made this move to NY from Arizona. Although she did a great job, as my hair grew out, the uneven lengths were noticeable, and difficult for me to manage, requiring too much time to do my hair, and wasting hairspray.

 

I was in need of a "professional" service. Having had much success at the Regis location in the Fiesta Mall, in Mesa AZ, I opted to try Regis in Johnson City, NY. When I first made the call for the appointmet, I explained to Sally, what I was in need of. I needed her to cut my hair, that was still considered short, although the back was longer than I liked, and that I wanted highlights with the foil process. She immediately thought I should have them pulled through a cap, (and this, when she still hadn't even met me, or seen my hair). I set the appointment for 3:30 that day. She said the whole process should only take about an hour and a half. Two and a half hours later, I did all I could from bolting out that door.

 

When I first arrived, Sally and I had a 20 minute consultation of my hair. Thankfully I was able to get her to agree to do foils on my hair.

 

She did more talking about her life, where she lived, the man she'd been seeing for 15 years, her son in NC, her job at Christmas when she retired. She even took out time to let her hair down, so that I could see her hairstyle, not that I was interested.

 

In the meantime, my sister came in to wait for me. Sally began cutting, and I explained the trouble areas to her. I told her how I wanted the color and the cut. During the haircut, I noticed how she was cutting my side of hair, and I had to instruct on the angle I needed, as she started cutting the opposite way. I felt I was very clear on what I wanted. Then when it came to the color, I told her I didn't need highlights on the lowere portion of the back of my hair, and when the foils came out, low and behold, there were highlights just where I had told her I DIDN'T want them. So she had to try to cut them out, all the while, asking my sister, what she thought, when I was the person who's opinion she should have considered.

 

Well, while I was in search of a hair cut that I wouldn't have to spend too much time on, I still have to spend a lot of time on it, now, until it grows out, so I can find someone else to cut my hair. As far as the hair color, the highlights are also rather uneven, as she didn't check all over to make sure the processing was the same color from the first foil to the last.

 

When she rang me out, she seemed to give me a discount on the foils, and charged me less for the haircut, because she said she could tell I wasn't happy with it. She was darn right, and I will never step foot in a Regis Hair Salon, ever again.

 

Just another unsatisfied customer at Regis.
