The Right One dating service

The Right One dating service

I went to The Right One dating service because they claim to do extensive background checks and match you with the type of person you would like to meet. What a joke and what an enormous ripoff! I spent two hours listening to how I was worth so much better than the men I've dated in the past and how they would refuse to match me with "blue collar" men! "Oh, only an educated, white collar professional for you honey!" The first referral they mailed me was a carpenter - which I don't mind, but since I hold a Master's degree they said they would match me with only a person at my education level which he was not. I called him and left a message - no call back. I waited a couple of months and contacted the company and they said well, we'll send another referral. This guy didn't call back either so I decided to GOOGLE him and came up with an address. So a couple weeks later I happened to be in that area and went by the address only to find a dirty broken down trailer that looked abandoned. I called them to tell them I want a refund and they yelled at me and said they needed to call their attorney because I "investigated" their client! I said, no I just wanted to see if real people existed behind the phone numbers you send. Her tone of voice changed drastically when she said she was recording our phone call. I demanded my money back, she said no and hung up. I am now out $1600. and am realllllyyyyy pissed off. Do I have any recourse at all? This is so bizzare!

I had the unfortunate opportunity of working for The Right One in Dallas as a marketing agent. (This particular franchise is also responsible for the Colorado Springs, Denver and Salt Lake City locations) Throughout my employment at The Right One I realized that this company was a scam. They have a database of leads that are in some cases 2 years old. We would be responsible for calling people over and over again as if we were a bill collection agency. I personally think that it was borderline harrassment because when someone asked to no longer be contacted we would still have to call them. I never once contacted anyone that was a member of The Right One that enjoyed the service that they had received. Constantly I would hear from people that they never matched them even after they had spent over 3000 dollars for a membership. Daily we would be bombarded with marketing "meetings" where the owner of the company, Ted Law, would come in and scream and yell at the managers that we were not producing enough. There were times where managers and employess alike would be nothing but a puddle of tears as they left the office due to Ted Law cursing them and telling them that they were worthless. This company is all about the bottom dollar for the owner, he has no care in the world about finding you that special someone. The office is also responsible for mass hiring and firings. After doing the math its more economical for the company owner to hire a bunch of people make them set appointments and fire them for no other reason than not having to pay out on commissions or wages. The saddest part about this company is that you can feel that you are in ways stealing from people. I had to talk to widows that were living on a fixed income that would cry over the phone wanting to have some glimmer of hope that we could find someone to just be a friend, in the back of my mind I knew that we were just going to take what little money she had and never set her up with anyone. Overall, I would say BEWARE! This particular franchise is not something that you want to get invloved with! Please, if you are reading this wondering whether or not to go in to find the love of your life, DO NOT GO! You will have less money and nothing to show for it. This is not a business of finding the perfect match, they could care less, they just want your credit card number. Trust me, I worked there.
