Bekins Van Lines-BMS Holdings-Anaheim CA lost/stole our 2004 Honda Civic Our family moved from Orange County, CA to Orlando, FL in July 2004. At that times Bekins picked up our furniture and our car to keep in storage until our home in Florida was complete and we would call for delivery. Our sales person was Dave Kraker (800) 251-9979 and the storage fees for the car was $120/month and the furniture was $240 month. Chris Santangalo, the local manager signed for the car after inspecting it. While staying with family in October 2004 (where our mail was forwarded) we noticed credits of $120 X 3 months. I contacted Dave Kraker on Oct 12th asking why the credits. He said he would get back with me. I received a call from Joe Hansard , Bekins Sr VP, on Oct 15th and he stated that my car (2004 Honda Civic EX) was accidenlty shipped to Pennsylvania and destroyed in the floods and was a total loss.. He never said sorry or what Bekins was doing to remedy the problem. I called Bekins on October 18th, since I never got a call back and they said I had movers insurance and they would pay for it. I contacted Fireman's Fund (my mover insurance) and they said they would not pay since it was Bekins mistake. I spoke with Mike Rogers on Oct 20th-Bekins Corporate Director of claims- and he said there was nothing that could be done since the Anaheim facility was locally owned. After hiring an attorney, Bekins shipped my furniture for an additional $1500 more than was originally quoted. They stated that the original quote from July 2004 was not valid after 30 days. Being that we were now in Florida and concerned with our furniture we agreed to pay the difference. Once the furniture arrived here is what I did and suggest: 1. Contact Visa/ Master Card and put all charges in dispute. 2. Contact your own car insurance company 3. Contact the local police department stating that Bekins stole the car since there was nothing that Bekins provided to dispute this claim Eventually Firemans fund paid the Blue Book value of the car (after many letters from my attorney).. I would never use Bekins again! John Kuckens Orlando Florida From: Message Author (click here to email author)Date: Thursday, 19-Jan-06 07:36:08 CST Business: Reply Online Consumer: Comment On This |
