My wife and I vacation in Charleston several times a year. We love the beauty and history. We had always stayed at the Indigo Inn or the Vendue Inn because both allow small pets and treated us wonderfully. We were approached on every visit to tour Lodge Alley Inn. We always asked the same question, do you allow pets under 5 lbs? We were told no every time. Then we again visited in March 2004. This time we were told yes, come to the tour. We did, we loved it, we bought...We were assured by Fred, the business manager that lots of owners have pets just please do not parade her in and out of the courtyard. Brian, our sales rep, didn't say one way or another, he deferred everything to Fred. I asked him to put everything in writing about the pet policy, he said he couldn't, but trust him, it would not be a problem. When we signed our paperwork, David, their finance manager even held our small dog on his lap. We brought friends down in May to purchase. Our dog was very visible while waiting for our friends to sign their paperwork. No problem... We came down again with other friends who purchased, again no problem. We vacationed in September 2004 by ourselves, no buying friends with us and the evening of our 2nd day we received a notice to vacate immediately for violation of property rules. The sales manager refused to speak to us or answer our calls. Fred was equally evasive. We contacted Bluegreen Corporate and filed a complaint and were basically told, oh well.....You bought, we have your money, tuff luck. They even admitted their sales people stretch the truth to get a sale when needed.
