Subject: Matlaw's Stuffed Clams New England Style & Clams Casino
Over the Xmas holidays, I purchased the above mentioned products at my local Super Fresh store. How do I begin to describe to you how truly horrible and tasteless they are. I didn't read the nutritional label until after I tasted them, my mistake, and realized that clams were listed in the bottom 1/3 of the ingredients.
I recommend that Super Fresh remove these products from their shelves and discontinue purchasing them. I'm sure there is a company around that makes REAL clam products with a substantial amount of clams in them.
Don't just take my word for it. Here are some other dissatisfied customers I found online. Apparently Matlaw's and
National Fish & Seafood don't care.
Consider a name change to National Doesn't Contain Real Seafood!

RE: MATLAW'S FOOD PRODUCTS (STUFFED CLAMS)
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN,
HOPEFULLY SOMEWHERE ALONG THE LINE, "MATLAW'S" OF WEST HAVEN CONN, WILL BE FORCED TO READ THIS. BETTER YET, THAT THEY WILL BE FORCED TO EAT SOME OF THE HERE-IN REFERRED TO PRODUCT. WOULD SOMEONE BE KIND ENOUGH TO INFORM ME AS TO WHETHER OR NOT THEY WILL READ IT.
I PURCHASED A BOX OF SIX STUFFED CLAMS FROM ONE OF THE LARGE FOOD STORES IN THE TOWN WHERE I RESIDE, CAMBRIDGE, MARYLAND. I CANNOT REMEMBER WHICH ONE, AS I SHOP AT ALL FOUR OF THEM. NONETHELESS AFTER PREPARING THIS ITEM ACCORDING TO "MATLAW'S" DIRECTIONS I MUST COMMENT THAT I HAVE NOT TASTED OR EATEN VERY MANY FOOD ITEMS IN MY LIFETIME WHICH WERE OF THE QUALITY OF PURE GARBAGE THAT THIS ONE WAS. THEY SHOULD REFER TO THE PACKAGE AS STUFFED CLAM SHELLS RATHER THAN STUFFED CLAMS.
IT APPEARS THAT THEY PLACED A SPOONFUL OF A GENERIC STUFFING INTO THE SHELLS AND THAT IS THE EXTENT OF THE CONTENT. I ATTEMPTED TO FIND SOME MINCED CLAMS IN ALL SIX OF THE CLAM SHELLS BUT COULD NOT. THE TASTE WAS UNDESCRIBABLE. THE FACT THAT I USE THE TERM TASTE IS PERHAPS A SERIOUS INACCURACY AS I HAVE NEVER TASTED ANYTHING SO TERRIBLE IN MY LIFE. I HOPE THAT IN THE EVENT THAT "MATLAW'S" DOES READ THIS THEY DON'T SEND ME A COUPON FOR ANYMORE OF THEIR PRODUCTS. THE BAR CODE ON THE ITEM WAS 0 41625 12116 9.
