MONITRONICS, 12801 N STEMMONS FREEWAY, SUITE 821, DALLAS, TX

In May 2003 I tried to cancel my services with Monitronics alarm and

they would not

cancel the account. When I called I was told that I needed the "

secret code" to cancel

which at the time I could not remember, so they said that it would

have to be mailed

to me. I never received anything from them so I called again and was

told the same

thing and that once they had the code there would be no problem and

the account

could be closed. Again I never received anything from them and in the

meantime I

found the code and wrote a letter terminating my service with a check

enclosed.

Well the invoices kept coming and then the collection agency bills

started coming

with the usual phone calls. I tried to talk to Monitronics but to no

avail.

Now this "bad debt" is on my credit report.

IS THIS LEGAL?

I guess that I will report them to the BBB, The Ohio attorney general

and consumer

compaint boards wherever available.

I hope people read and do business with reputable firms.

One small piece of mind comes from knowing that myself and my wife are

both small business owners in differnt areas and we spread the word as

much as possible and know that we have personally kept dozens of

people from signing with Monitronics.

Just last week At our family Christmas 5 family members alone are

getting alarm systems

and we were able to steer them in the right direction.

BEWARE OF MONITRONICS RIP OFF
