Allied Collection Services

I received a call today from a gentleman at Allied on behalf of the MO Dept of Revenue. He would not tell me what his call was regarding, but requested that I verify my social security number with him. I refused to do so over the phone. He hung up on me and proceeded to call my supervisor requesting the same information about me. She stated that she would not give him the information unless he informed her of his intentions for calling. He told her it was regarding "wage garnishment". So I called the MO Dept of Revenue, and they stated that the company was not supposed to call me at all, and that the "issue" was for a $74.26 tax bill from 1997 - there was no intention or mention of a wage garnishment.

I find it appalling that I would have to be subjected to this kind of embarrasment at work over $74.26. What's worse is that the man wouldn't tell me what he was calling for, but told a co-worker without a second thought. Threatening garnishments is ridiculous considering they never even sent me a letter. Has anyone else had this kind of an experience with Allied?

I have also had a bad experience with Allied Collection Services in Dallas Texas. I live in AL and someone rented an apartment in my name and my ssn out in Texas. I have never lived there. I called Allied to complain and get information. The guy I spoke to was very rude and accusatory and not willing to help me. I called back and asked for a supervisor, the sup would not give me his name and transferred me back to the guy I was dealing with. The guy was talking over me and arguing with me. These are the most incompetent group of people I have ever dealt with in my life. They are crooks and do not deserve to be in business. I will not rest until this problem is taken care of!
