Peachtree door hardware

Peachtree door hardware My home is 12 years old, built in 1993. I replaced all of the exterior brass hardware on the Peachtree exterior doors in 1998. It too went bad in about three years time. Presently it has deteriorated to the point of required replacement as it is distracting from the presentation and appeal of the home. Take a look at any Peachtree advertisement; the hype is that nothing but the very finest in materials and workmanship is used. “Hardware finishes are not covered by any warranty” is NOT one of the predominant statements in your ads. In fact I have yet to see that statement in and advertisement. Peachtree has a known problem with the quality brass utilized in the very expensive ‘Prado’ line of doors and even more problems with the quality of the application of the protective clear coat that obviously does not do the job for which it was intended. Wouldn’t it make sense that a company using the finest of anything would warranty it? That aside, giving the customer some assistance in replacing or at least restoring the product would give a little credence to ‘Customer Service.’

We are sorry but have no information on refinishing the brass plated handles.
Hardware finishes are not covered by any warranty.

I was in my late 50's and wanted trouble free retirement, HA! I installed 4 Prado exterior doors. The latch assem, bly on two have failed because of an under designed plastic part (guaranteed parts sale). The brass hardware has severely tarnished and I live in a dry dessert enviorment, Lord only knows what would happen in a coastal area. I also had a glass panel that had the sun shield installed incorrect( warranty did cover that repair except that the installation molding was re-used by the technition and is now curling and about to fall out. I would reccommend to anyone looking for doors, run away from Peachtree as far and a fast as possible. The Peachtree windows are a little better but, the plastic hardware is beginning to fail from sun exposure. By the way the replacement of the latch assembly with standard hardware requires modification or the door drillings but is well worth the effort. Standard hardware is available off the shelf at 40% the cost of the "have to order" Peachtree hardware.
