Capital One - Trying to verify a fradulent account This is a letter I wrote to the Capital One CEO, Richard D. Fairbank; after I had already written 3-4 letters trying to get rid of a fraudulent account in addition to calling them numerous times. Re: Account Validation Part Two CERTIFIED MAIL Capital One Bank C/O Mr. Richard Fairbank 1680 Capitol One Drive McLean, VA 22102
Dear Mr. Fairbank: I have written letters to you in both November and December and have been trying to work with Capital One since August 2005 to validate and expunge a fraudulent account from my records. Again, to refresh your memory, I was denied credit due to a delinquency on my credit report; I then checked my credit report and found that a Capital One account had been opened in my name in 1999 and I was not even aware of this account till I checked my credit report in 2005. I then began conducting research and figured out the account was opened back in 1999, there a few delinquencies on the account; it then went on to become a charge-off account and then was suddenly paid off. I have repeatedly tried to prove that this account is NOT mine; I have asked to see the documentation that was used to create the account (application, etc.) in addition to trying to get this account expunged from my record. I have written numerous letters, called numerous times to no avail.
