Frigidaire clothes washer

I own a front-loading Frigidaire clothes washer, Model FWT449GFS2, whose inner drum 'spider' fractured in two places after 5 years. It was clear, after tear-down and inspection, that this critical drive part had been exposed to water and detergent for several years, resulting in complete corrosive deterioration, and the two thru-and-thru fractures. The result was a sever vibration and knocking during the spin cycle. I believe that the rear tub seal must have begun slowly leaking soon after we bought the washer. Frigidaire refuses to acknowledge their liability in the matter, and I am completely frustrated by their refusal to own up to their responsibility for this inferior product. Please learn from my mistake of assuming that the 25 year warrantee on the inner drum would include the most critical, and most poorly designed part of the assembly. It doesn’t. Further FYI for my fellow do-it-yourself types: Frigidaire will not send you any warranted functional parts (their terminology for items most likely to break), if you are not one of their certified service persons. My advice to anyone who is considering a Frigidaire front-loading clothes washer is DON'T BUY IT, unless you have plenty of time and money to throw away.
