Emirates Airlines Complaint

I am writing to you in order to inform you about some very unpleasant facts

that have happened during the flight from Dubai to Milan via Rome, on

February the 1st, 2006 at 7:50.

My journey started in Mauritius the night before. We had to wait at Dubai

Airport for the next plane that would have brought me and my family to

Milan.

Until Rome, the flight has been fine.

However when the new crew has joined the crew already on the plane from

Dubai at Rome Airport very unpleasant facts has happened.

While the passengers with final destination Rome were leaving the plane, a

hostess announced in English that ALL the passengers HAD to leave URGENTLY

the plane.

Since we could not understand what was happening and why we all had to leave

the plane urgently since we were continuing to Milan, we asked a crew member

for clarifications. This person went to phone the captain. When she finished

talking to the captain, my mother and I looked at this crew member who,

however, did not even give us some eye contact anymore and waited for the

captain to speak on the loud speaker, saying that the previous message had

not been clear and that the passengers going to Milan had to stay on the

plane.

Since we had to stay on the plane, I nicely asked to some other cabin crew

member if I could go to the toilet. In fact it had been long time since the

passengers did not have the possibility to go to the toilet. The plane had

to try to land twice: the first time, when the captain realised that another

plane was still blocking the way, in order to avoid a collision with this

plane on the ground, instead of landing, took off again.

Anyway this crew member told me that I could not use the toilet: I looked

inside the toilet, since the door was opened and saw that the toilet was

full of luggage and bags: I realised later, since my father asked, that

those bags had been left there by the new crew members.

It is not over and now the unacceptable part is coming.

One member of the new crew, her name was Andrea, started checking if the

luggage left on the plane belonged to somebody in the plane or they had been

left by the people who ended their journey in Rome.

While showing the luggage and the bags to the passengers, waiting for the

owners to confirm that the luggage actually belonged to somebody, she was

screaming that if the luggage did not belong to anybody on the plane she was

obliged to offload it and leave it in Rome.

While she was doing this, she did not find the owner of a bag: however she

left it where it was and apparently forgot about it: I have followed this

scene very carefully and asked a person next to me if he saw the same thing:

he confirmed to me that he had seen the same: this Andrea did not find the

owner.

Since I did not feel at ease in seeing this, I kindly informed another crew

member that there was still a luggage that, until that moment did not belong

to anybody left on the plane. She turned around and she did not even pay

attention to what I was saying.

Realising that I had not been listened by this crew member, when I saw again

this person called Andrea, I kindly informed her that she had forgotten to

double check to whom that specific bag belonged: I pointed it at her.

She took the luggage and showed it around. I carefully looked at her. She

did not find the owner and she put it back where this bag was before. I

became very nervous and asked her what she was doing since she did not find

the owner. She said that she had found it. I told her that this was not true

and she took it again. She showed it around, even in the lines before me

this time and put it back. At this stage I believe that she should have

informed us that she had found the owners of the bag, in order to make us

feel at ease and calm us.

Since she did not inform us of what had happened at least saying that she

had found the owners, when I asked her again if she had found them, she

answered me in a very rude way, saying that it belonged to some people in

front of the airplane. According to me and the other witness, she could have

lied a second time.

I called another crew member that got on the plane in Rome as her and

informed him about the situation. I saw them going behind a wall of the

plane, disappear and appear again.

While walking in the aisle, he informed me that the owner had been found.

She was walking behind me and with a very angry look she said that she had

checked twice for the owner. I told her that she had lied the first time,

she admitted it and left to the back of the plane.

I am wondering the following:

• In time of frequent terrorist attacks do you have an idea of how airplane

passengers feel when travelling by plane, especially coming from the Mideast

countries and going to Europe?

• If I had not asked the cabin crew twice about checking the luggage, she

would have left it there without making sure that this luggage had actually

an owner. In addition she even lied when she said to me that she had found

the owner already the first time I asked her to check if this bag was owned

by somebody or not.

• How could she treat me so arrogantly and come towards me very angry saying

that she had checked twice this luggage, lying again in front of the

steward?

Dear passenger,

Regard yourdelf very fortunate compared to what I had to experience.

As i was flying from Bangok to Dubai, i gently asked the Sri Lanki steward if it were possible to change seats after take-off since there was plenty of space elswhere and I am 1.93m in height.

Very arrogantly he looked at me from head to toe and left.

After take-off i asked him again to change seat, and i got the same look and nothing more.

So instinctevly, after he gave his back to me i told him to "fuck off", and kept my seat. A minute after a another flight attendant comes telling me that i told her co-worker to "fuck off", and that he was hurt by this remark. So i told her if she had any proof, and she said she heard me from about 7.0m distance. i was annoyed at this point, so i got up and told her that since the take-off phase is over, i want to change seats so i could sleep.

At this point another very angry steward comes up to me and says " sit down or i'll beat you..."

at that point i went furious, but was very careful not to touch anyone, so i ask for his name cause i would report him when we reach Dubai airport for threatining a passenger with physical assault.

After saying that he rushed to first-class and was never seen again. So i keep asking the other attendants for his name, but they all ignored me as if i were not there; making me more frustrated.

All of a sudden 3 to for attendants jump over me from behind, beat me, tie my hands and feet, and kept beating me.

I was refused water and the use of the toillete during a 10 hour flight, having my wrists and ankle straps tightend systematically every hour or so, my fingers were about to burst.

When we landed i was escorted by the police who didn't care about what i had to say. The captain testified i wanted to break-in the pilot cabin...but has no video.

i was sent to jail, for 38 days before being released on a 50.000 Drh bail,

and involvment from my embassy.

I am awaiting trail here in Dubai, charged with intentionnaly threatening the lives of the passengers through the use of violence.

I have lost my job, a fortune in legal expenses, and i am still stuck here under investigation.
