We recently purchased the Whirlpool Duet GHW9150PW and were assured that
it would arrive the next day, they would uninstall the old washing
machine, install the new one in the pan and level it. They arrived a
little late but at least they uninstalled the old washing machine and
put it in the garage. They tracked some mud into our brand new house
but that's to be expected. One guy did not speak English which wouldn't
have been a big deal except the other guy could barely speak English.
They tried unsuccessfully to place the washing machine into the pan and
decided it would not fit. I looked at it and told them it would be a
tight fit but it would fit. They decided it wouldn't or more likely
they did not want to get it to fit. There's no doubt that it would have
been difficult to move into place but it will fit. Instead of arguing
with them to put it in the pan I agreed to just have them install it on
the floor for now until I could locate a larger pan.
I went away for a few minutes while they did that and I came back and
they had it installed on the floor. I noticed the brand new vinyl floor
looking a little rumpled. The installation guy was trying to hide the
fact that they had ripped the vinyl floor while they tried to slide the
washing machine into place. I thought to myself - first they are too
lazy to put it into the pan then they scratch the floor and try to hide
it. So I signed the delivery form and noted that they scratched the
floor. I also asked him if he had leveled it like it said in the manual
and he said since this was a new house he didn't need to level it. He
was about to leave and then noticed that I wrote something on the form.
I am not sure he knew what I wrote but he knew I wrote something. I
told him they ripped the floor and he shot me a dirty look and told me
to show him. I lifted up one corner (the thing weighs over 200 lbs) and
he acted like he didn't know they did that. So he exhaled and said
someone would be out to give an estimate.
So the day before the salesman said to call with any problems and we did
and he promptly unloaded us on a manager. We told the manager what
happened and said he would send out the delivery manager and that the
washing machine did not need to be leveled since it was self-leveling.
The delivery manager had some kind of family problem so another
installation tech came out while my wife was home and told her some
interesting things about the drain pan. First he said as large as the
front loader was that the pan would not do a lot of good. I thought the
whole point of front loaders was that they did not use a lot of water
and the pan is supposed to hold the water until it can go down the
drain. Otherwise the water seeps from the second floor into the ceiling
of the first.
Anyways, so the washing machine appears to be working fine and we have
done several loads. There is a fairly large gash on the vinyl flooring
in the laundry room and there is no drain pan under the washing
machine. I am hoping hhgregg will do the write thing. We will see.
This is my first purchase from HHgregg and it is not looking very good.
I saw all the complaints on this site about Best Buy and I never really
had any problems with them.
