Federal Express wil not hold a package for pickup

Dear Complaint Staff,

 

On 2/27/06 I had a prescription filled by an online pharmacy and they used Federal Express as their shipping agent. This was needed medication that was sent 2nd day air and required a signature on delivery. I paid $19.00 for this service. The estimated time of delivery was posted as 4:30 on 3/1/06. Since I would still be at work at that time and I needed the medication that day, I called Fed Ex to have them hold the package and I would pick it up after work at their location.

 

Even though I called a day prior to the scheduled delivery date, I was told that they had to attempt a delivery and it had to be returned to the station before the package could be signed for and picked up at their location. This did not make sense to me since it was a waste of their company resources and I was required to wait an additional day for my medication. When I asked for the address to which I could send a complaint I was treated very rudely by their customer service representative. He asked me if I thought I was going to change their corporate policy by complaining.

 

The tracking number is 790827606732. I may not be able to change corporate policy but if the company never hears about problems encountered by their customers then soon they will not have any customers. I can call UPS at any time prior to the day of delivery and have a package held at their "Will Call" area for pickup. Fed Ex may want to consider the same policy.
