Chase and Wal-Mart Credit card (service?)

Chase and Wal-Mart Credit card (service?) Hello, You can probably delete this if you don't feel like reading this. I'm sure you get them all of the time and I'm basically just venting since it seems nothing can be done about the legalized thievery going on at these credit companies. Our illustrious government would rather send my hard earned money over seas to kill people than to spend time making laws to protect OUR rights. I have been taking over my Mother's finances since she had a malignant brain tumor removed in April. This was a glioblastoma which is basically a death sentence. Her finances were not in great shape (she owed a lot), possibly due to the brain tumor affecting her mental facilities, I don't know. She always managed to pay her bills on time though. I have managed to eliminate a large portion of her debt (about 4 credit cards) through careful management of her funds (I have the P.O.A.) but have recently run into great difficulty trying to reduce or eliminate her Chase and Wal-Mart balances. Basically my complaint is the way these companies take advantage of the elderly and the rest of us by charging rates that are close to 25% in some cases. The monthly payments go mostly towards their fees and next to nothing for the balances which makes it impossible to reduce the debt. I have called them and they generously reduced the interest on both accounts by 1 percentage point (her rates were 23.99% for Chase and 19.99% for Wal-Mart) but over a 3 month period managed to increase it back to where it was previously. I also tried to reduce my rate on my own credit card for Chase (I was paying 13.99%) in the same manner but they did the same thing to me. What irked me was that I have a business checking account with them (which I would change to someone else if it wasn't for my brother being the president of our company) as well as a credit card and have never missed a credit card payment in 10 years. I got fed up with the jerks and did a balance transfer. I will never use Chase again. They are thieves and I can't believe how the government lets them get away with this crap. I will use Capital One or Wachovis from now on or anyone else who doesn't try to screw me like these 2 companies have. When my Mom dies I will make sure that Wal-Mart and Chase will get the address for her gravesite so they can try and collect on their bills. I'm sure they'll just write it off on their taxes though.
