The name of the business is called Apex bus it is located at 649 Newtown Rd

ste 101 Virginia Beach, Va 23462 on the Morning of Sunday February 26, 2006

there was a 1:00a.m. bus leaving Virginia Beach heading to New York City.

When we arrived it was about 12:30 a.m. it was a lot of people standing

outside of the bus waiting to get on the bus most people had purchase round

trip tickets from New York . Around 1:00a.m. a van full of Chinese people

came off of a van and went directly on to the bus mind you all of the

people that was already there such as myself was already standing outside

for about half hour or more in the freezing cold with kids, they opened the

doors to let the Chinese people in and then they closed it back on us. About

10 minutes later the driver opened the door and started letting people on.

The problem with that was when they did that and you got on the bus to give

them your ticket they told us that we had to have numbers on our tickets so

that meant we would have to get off line go back and wait on another line

and then get back in line again so that we can board the bus when we

purchase the tickets this was never told to anyone before because if that

was the case everyone there would have already went and gotten numbers put

on there tickets so that they would not have to get out of line and then get

back on it again. The problem with that is they had let all the Chinese

people on the bus before us and took up over half the seats and they could

not fit everyone on that bus so they figure if they had numbers on the

tickets and there was not enough seats we would have to wait for another bus

which came an hour later so that meant standing in the cold for another hour

with babies and little kids. This pains me to say this because I thought

that for the most part racism is over but it is not and it's right in your

own neighborhood. I' am an African American and all the people that was

standing outside waiting for that bus that night was also African American.

Needless to say the police was called because a fight had broke out because

of the way we were being treated and the way the bus driver and another

women was yelling and cursing at us it was ridiculous. They did not want to

give us our money back who would want to ride on a bus like that and there

was clearly so much discrimination going on no one felt safe. When the

police officers arrived we explained what happened and so did everyone else

that was standing out there and to my surprised the officer told us that

they have been out there every weekend for the pass year because of the same

situation that I just described to you and told us to make a complaint and

also if they did not give us our money back to file a case with the courts.

The strange thing about all of this is that when the fight did start I ask

the driver to call the police and he said no! it took someone else outside

that was sitting in the car watching the whole thing to call the police. Now

I don't know about you but if I was running a business and there is nothing

to hide I would not have hesitated to call the police especially when

someone could have gotten hurt. In the end we all got our money back thanks

to Virginia Beach Police Officers and we use another bus company to get back

to New York. But something has to be done about this situation because there

could have very well been a riot out there that night and a lot of people

and children could have gotten hurt.
