CrystalTech email hosting...a debacle Dear Compaints.com-- CrystalTech has hosted our email service for several years now. In the last 4 or 5 months, we've experienced numerous breakdowns in service, lasting from mere tens of minutes to hours to days. We are now in one of those "days" situations. When we call CrystalTech, we get the standard mumbo jumbo. Once wee start pinning them down, it seems that it has something to do with replacing equipment or having equipment break on them. Today, it's a disk replacement that didn't go "as expected." While all emnail hosts have intermittant ruptures, CrystalTech seems to have MANY more than its share. CrystalTech doesn't inform us of problems so we are left top guess, hours later, if any of our emails went through to clients. When I asked Dragos what the estimated uptime was, he said he didn't know. That there were 57,000 emails being processed, but slowly. when I asked if the emails sent hours ago would be sent first, he said he couldn't answer that, that our server had a capacity issue that it was handling slowly. So it sounds like emails keep coming into a jammed email server and there's now ay to predictably get older email out first. When I asked him again when this should be fixed, he said that once the installation was up and running, that we'd have "no further problems." when I asked when that night be, he said he couldn't tell me, but that he HOPED it would be by tomorrow morning latest. It'd be one thing if this was an exceptional situation with CrystalTech but it's not. It's par for the course. And they are materially affecting our small business. To survive, we have to move away from these guys. For any small business owners, I urge you also to stay away from these guys. They'll murder your business.
