Alarm System

Alarm System Residential Complaint with protect America, Inc. I purchased an alarm system from Protect America 3 years ago this month. My mother passed and for 2 1/2 years it has not even been activated because we finally turned the electricity off. I called Protect america 2 years and told them and they said that was fine but I was bound by the contract for 3 years. This was fine. 1 year ago January 2005 I called the Customer Service office and asked how much longer on the contract and was told it expired February 23, 2006. I was told that I didn't have to do anything it would automatically cancel itself out and the equipment was mine to keep. I asked twice and was told this information. When I called in January 2006 to make sure because it is direct pay from my salary, I was told that I didn't give a 60 day notice therefore having to pay and additional 1 year of service!!!! This isn't fair and it is misconstruing customers. I do not want this service any longer, you have been paid the total 3 years of service and you have really gotten a deal for it has not been on in 2 years in the house. Now, I want it compleely cut off as far as the service agreement without another year's payment to you. I will seek Better Business Bureau, Consumer Affiars in Raleigh, N.C., and wherever else I need to have this stopped and not have my credit ruined. I will also contact Chanel 9 Television Station to do an investigation as well. Need a reply immediately.
